While the auto industry continues to face challenges due to the ongoing state of the world, the South Korean automaker is here to offer inspiring news. Kia Philippines reported that it sold 3,748 vehicles last year—a massive 76% increase outpacing the industry’s 18%, one of the highest in the industry.
The automaker’s substantial growth in 2021 was fueled by none other than the stylish Stonic, followed by the reliable Soluto, and then the hardworking K2500.
The Kia Stonic was first introduced to the local market in October 2020 and quickly became the top-selling model for the automotive company. The Kia Stonic covered 37% of total sales.
Sleek, spacious, and of course, stylish, the Kia Stonic is an excellent choice for young adults who are in the market for a stylish vehicle. Its striking, stylish exterior accentuated by two-tone body colors and the iconic “tiger nose” grille. Its flexible interior can accommodate up to 325 liters of cargo. Its 1.4-liter dual CVVT petrol engine has a maximum power output of 100ps and maximum torque of 132Nm. Indeed, the Kia Stonic makes an excellent and stylish city ride.
The next model to take most of the share is the Kia Soluto, accounted for 21% of the company’s total sales. The reason behind its popularity is that the Kia Soluto reflects the same drive that many Filipinos have—the drive to make moves towards professional success.
The Kia Soluto features a smart exterior and practical interior. It’s powered by a fuel-efficient 1.4-liter D-CVVT engine. Packed with convenient technologies such as its multifunction steering wheel and audio system that’s compatible with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. Generous in space, especially it’s compartment which has a 475-liter capacity. And it’s big on safety with features like its rear parking distance warning and immobilizer which provides a better anti-theft system (EX variants). All these are set to help people conquer the daily grind and fulfill ambitions.
Finally, the third model to contribute to Kia’s success this 2021 is the K2500. It proved to be a trustworthy business partner as this commercial vehicle accounted for 17% of total vehicle sales in 2021.
Entrepreneurs who were inspired to take their operations to greater distances were drawn by the highly customizable body of the K2500. Whether they ran a food delivery service, a home cleaning service, or needed a vehicle to safely transport workers, the K2500 had a configuration that fit their business needs. Inside the K2500 beats a 2.5L turbocharged engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and it’s also the only light commercial vehicle available in 4×4! This option is ideal for industries that frequently do operations on rough roads and provincial settings: construction, farming, forestry, and more. It can even be used by local government units as service/rescue vehicles.
The jump in sales ends a momentous 2021 wherein Kia Philippines gained the confidence and trust of more Filipinos everywhere. It truly was an inspiring year which further motivates the South Korean car brand to work harder toward its ultimate goal: to provide the best ownership experience to customers by building the most competent distributor and dealer after-sales operations. Upgrading the quality of their worker’s technical skills and increasing the availability of replacement parts was just the beginning. Kia has more in store to show that it values customers’ satisfaction and peace of mind.
Exciting times are up ahead for the car manufacturer, especially after it had just launched a new corporate logo and brand identity. On top of that, Kia Philippines is also slowly remodeling many of its showrooms to champion the company’s new store identity. All these to uphold the philosophy of “Movement that inspires.”
“Our teams are inspired by our refreshed vision to equip Filipinos with everything they need to move towards a brighter, bolder future,” said Manny Aligada, President of Kia Philippines. “We are confident that our purpose-driven vehicles, partnered with our efforts in improving our dealerships, customer care, and after-sales services, will accelerate Kia Philippines into the next phase of growth in 2022 and beyond.”
