JAC Philippines, part of the local lineup of multinational mobility provider Astara, officially debuted its all-new Ytterby electric vehicle (EV) on September 26, 2024, at the newly inaugurated JAC Pasig.
JAC Philippines Brand Head Tonette Lee said the all-new Ytterby is the latest innovation in EV cars resulting from 60 years of engineering experience from one of the first automobile producers in China. The Ytterby also bolsters JAC Philippines’ position as a brand that offers among the widest array of dependable and cost-efficient passenger cars in the Philippine market. “The launch of the all-new Ytterby is timely as EVs steadily become more mainstream in the Philippines because of their ability to provide clean and cost-efficient mobility,” she said.
“With the launch of the all-new Ytterby, leading edge does not have to mean out of reach, with all its technology and features, this vehicle is surprisingly accessible,” Lee added. “This stylish and practical EV complements our lineup of attractive and value-packed models that we believe every Filipino deserves.”
Meanwhile, Astara Philippines Country Manager and CEO Luis Torres Bruzon highlighted in his speech how JAC Philippines has entered the electrification era with the Ytterby, following the brand’s mission of offering Filipinos a wide range of well-priced passenger and commercial vehicles.
Bubbly design
First previewed at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show, the Ytterby is a result of JAC’s “Bubble Aesthetics Design” philosophy.
Large LED headlights with circular daytime running lights dominate the Ytterby’s sleek face, which incorporates small openings in the lower bumper. These lights are not only energy-efficient, but also improve driver safety by substantially increasing visibility during nighttime or poor weather conditions.
The steeply raked windshield leads to the expansive 1.45-meter skylight made using JAC’s laminated Low-E glass, which is perfect for the Philippines. Besides letting natural light in to give the Ytterby’s cabin a truly airy feel, the glass reduces heat gain, glare and UV radiation so that occupants stay comfortable and protected from the harmful rays of the sun.
This advanced glass technology also translates to improved energy efficiency by making the standard climate-control system work less, thus reducing electricity consumption and enhancing the overall driving experience, especially during hot and sunny days.
Meanwhile, the tri-color petal wheels add flair to the clean side profile, which incorporates electrically retractable door handles for a neater appearance and improved aerodynamics. At the rear, the Ytterby includes a blacked-out D-pillar, subtle tailgate spoiler and large, square LED taillights for a distinctive appearance.
Up to 505 km of range
The all-new Ytterby comes in two variants and incorporates premium EV features that allow owners to go farther with confidence.
The Air 405 is so named because of its maximum CLTC range of 405 kilometers, courtesy of a 41-kWh battery pack and an electric motor producing 94 horsepower and 135 Newton-meters of torque. Meanwhile, the PRO 505 variant gets a 51.5-kWh battery for a 505-kilometer CLTC maximum range, with power increased to 134 horsepower and 175 Newton-meters of torque.
Using a DC fast charger, the Ytterby’s battery can be replenished from 30 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Meanwhile, a full charge using the supplied 7-kWh home charger takes only 7.5 to 9 hours, depending on the model.
In addition, the Ytterby has been made even easier to drive. Owners can simply unlock the door when near the vehicle and the motor would immediately power up – just press the brake pedal to put the Ytterby in its ready state and drive in gear.
Once the journey is done, owners just need to get out of the vehicle, lock its door through the key, and the Ytterby would automatically power off. This is in line with JAC Philippines’ commitment to simplify and improve the driving experience for all its models.
Lighter and more efficient
The all-new Ytterby features a 9-in-1 Electric Drive System that integrates nine system components, including the motor, reducer, drive motor controller, high-voltage power distributor and AC/DC system.
This innovative, compact design means more interior space, resulting in improved passenger comfort and greater cargo capacity. The 9-in-1 Electric Drive System also means the Ytterby is 40 percent lighter and up to 94 percent more efficient than equivalent vehicles, further reducing the electricity needed to power the EV.
With impressive energy consumption of just 10-kWh per 100 kilometers, the Ytterby helps owners save even more on electricity, while highlighting JAC’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
5-star safety
The Ytterby was engineered to offer the best protection for its occupants, resulting in five out of five stars in the C-NCAP’s stringent crash tests.
Besides standard front, side and curtain airbags, a seatbelt-off warning and child-restraint anchors, the EV’s safety is further enhanced by the zero-thermal-runaway honeycomb battery that can handle major collisions without catching fire and the 3-in-1 intelligent braking system that can help prevent a road crash.
In addition, the new Ytterby PRO 505 features Level 2 Assisted Driving that not only intervenes in case of an imminent collision, but also allows owners to enjoy long trips with greater comfort.

“We sincerely believe that being part of the JAC Philippines family will contribute to the new heights that the Autohub Group will reach this year,” he added. “We are also proud to serve as the venue for the launch of the all-new Ytterby EV. Our dedicated team is ready to serve our clients in Pasig City, as well as in various parts of the metro.”
Meanwhile, JAC International Regional Director for Asia Pacific (LHD) Jessica Ji emphasized the importance of the Philippine market in the carmaker’s overall growth.
“As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we are also looking to the future with excitement and optimism,” she said in her speech. “Together with our partner, Astara, we are dedicated to making JAC Motors a household name in the Philippines, bringing a better driving experience and a new automotive lifestyle to Filipino users.”

The all-new Ytterby EV joins the JS4 subcompact SUV, JS6 compact SUV, JS8 PRO midsize 7-seater SUV and T8 PRO pickup – further demonstrating the great variety that JAC Philippines offers every Filipino with its passenger and commercial vehicles.
JAC Philippines also announced the availability of the JS2 PRO subcompact SUV, which aims to be the most accessible among the brand’s diverse vehicle range at P875,000 with 5 years or 150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) and a free 24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance for the first year.
