IT experts join the COVID-19 battle

Full stack programmers of MultiSys Technologies Corporation, a systems developer and integrator in the Philippines, joins the rest of the world in a united stand against COVID-19.

At the outset, the company founder, David Almirol, Jr., recognized that his programmers will be facing a different kind virus—one that cannot be eliminated by an anti-virus software, but he knew a website can be developed to trace COVID-19 and digitalize the tools used by frontliners to collect the health conditions of residents. The efficiency would result in faster response time and provide timely information.

When the enhanced community quarantine was enforced and mass public transport has been suspended, MultiSys programmers did not have to worry about travelling to and from their homes because they literally live in their workplace.  Sleeping quarters are available to them, as well as a gym, a mess hall with free food, and a recreation center.  Thus, when Almirol handpicked a team of software engineers and programmers for the cause, the geeks were more than willing.

Then for seven sleepless days and nights, the team did a marathon work to: [1] understand the dynamics of the crisis response; [2] design the systems flow; [3] simplify the data requirement that would comply with the Data Privacy law; [4] configure the user interface; and [5] design the back-end reports and analytics.

The website was finally up and running on April 8, 2020.

StaySafe.ph is a product of MultiSys’ extensive experience in big data management. With social distancing and home quarantine in place, plus the fact that people hate long queues in business transactions, the online tool is the perfect answer.

Almirol shared, “It makes me proud to lead such daring and inspirited programmers who are eager to contribute to the national cause at no cost to the government. Not only have they helped the country, but more importantly they have enabled a platform that promotes “Digital Bayanihan”. May we all mold the young and future generations to have such passionate and patriotic spirit.”

It will be recalled that David and his team were the same geeks who busted the long lines at several government offices and created bespoke solutions such as ease-of-doing-business platforms and smart city systems.  These experts want to share their skills in this global battle—for free.

StaySafe.ph has over 100,000 users as of yet. More users will give the website greater power to help in the fight. Everyone is encouraged to register and be counted.
