Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro: The versatile smartwatch that marries fashion and fitness

Over the course of sporting Huawei’s latest flagship smartwatch, the Huawei GT 3 Pro, my relationship with it has gone over and beyond love at first sight. On top of its premium build and design, it also excels in various aspects such as its health monitoring, excellent screen quality, and long battery life, to name a few. Anyone will find it difficult not to completely fall in love as it shines in the  wearable tech scene. One might wonder if it’s without any setbacks — read more to find out!

Design and Build

Even with frequent use, it’s hard to grow tired of its elegant design — minimalist ceramic body with gold accents. Personally, its subtlety makes it even more striking. Meanwhile, embodying versatility, it lends itself well to a broad spectrum of activities and events — from sporty to casual to formal affairs.

Equipped with a durable sapphire glass lens, it gives you confidence to exert maximum effort while engaging in sports. Whether braving hiking spots in Rizal or exploring the wonders of the marine biodiversity in Batangas, your watch can be the least of your worries while tracking your progress.

I tested out the capabilities of the Huawei GT 3 Pro during a session at the driving range. It feels slightly bulky (50g) on the wrist, but after hitting half a bucket of balls, it became tolerable, leaving my swing unaffected. On a different note, the downswing up to the ball contact creates a strong impact; hence, this is where durability comes in. Unsurprisingly, its sturdiness was able to withstand all strokes.

It’s highly convenient that the smartwatch came with a screwdriver to adjust your bracelet; just make sure you’re not pressed for time while doing so since the hand work is tedious.

Display

Complementing the luxurious exterior is the 1.32-inch AMOLED HD screen display. From setting up to operating and getting to know the watch, you’ll get to indulge in the superb screen quality. The details are on point and the colors are bright and vibrant. What amplifies this experience is its responsiveness with every tap. To add to that, the user interface was very straightforward. It’s like meeting someone for the first time and instantly clicking!

Unfortunately, the free watch faces are quite limited; other selections are available but you’d have to pay for them. Although this isn’t a problem since I’m already pleased with the default Stellar watch face.

Your health and fitness buddy

In our daily hustle and busy schedules, we tend to neglect our health. Fortunately, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro has made the important health monitoring features highly accessible — on our wrist. As the saying goes, ‘prevention is better than cure,’ so it’s crucial to be aware of your heart health at all times. You have the more refined ECG sensor that provides real-time analysis. In addition to that, with the Huawei TruSeen 5.0+, you’d be more confident with the accuracy of the results of your heart rate and SpO2.

It’s a different story wearing the watch while playing sports, and another when hitting the sheets. Comfort levels while wearing it to sleep fell short, but data provided were undeniably helpful. In fact, it provides you with tips and reminders when you’re straying away from the ideal sleeping hours or your sleeping patterns are irregular.

Thanks to the presence of a menstrual cycle management, the data that’ll be presented can be a good reference to track frequency and length of your cycle. Irregularities in the menstrual cycle can be a tell-tale sign for other underlying health issues. Some might overlook this aspect of their health, but it’s just as significant and it’s best to have a clear picture of your overall health and track any changes occurring in your body.

Included in the 100+ workouts are outdoor and indoor exercises and individual and team sports. The diverse selections make it suitable for multi-sport athletes.

Diving enthusiasts can rave about the more advanced water-resistant capabilities (5ATM and IP68 ratings). It can now withstand a depth up to 30m — enough to get you started for your underwater adventure as a beginner.

With the new Golf Driving Range mode, it’ll most certainly up your game. It gives you data about your swing tempo, backwing, downswing, and overall swing speed. As a beginner in the sport, this can be an effective tool to improve your swing and track your progress. This feature has become one of the reasons why I look forward to visiting the driving range more often.

Smart features

The very first time I used it to answer a call, the loudness and clarity of the speakers caught me and my companion by surprise. Not only will this smartwatch prevent us from missing important calls, but it will also provide the much needed hitch-free communication. Notifications appear in a timely manner as well.

Battery

With regard to its longevity, Huawei fulfilled its promise of a 7-day battery life for the Ceramic Edition. My usage wasn’t as extensive and consisted of answering calls, measuring my golf stats once in a week, checking my health stats (sleep monitoring, stress levels, heart rate), enabling notifications, and alarming.

Verdict

If you’re not fully immersed in the Huawei ecosystem, it’s highly likely that you won’t get to maximize the full capabilities of the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro. You’ll stumble across setbacks such as the lack of app support or third party services. However, this can be overlooked given its comprehensive and advanced health and fitness monitoring, elegant design, premium build, and stunning visual experience. Not to mention, it offers several conveniences for your day-to-day activities: long battery life and loud calls. It’s worth the investment if you’re going to ask me, especially since health is paramount. Looking stylish and rocking it with every outfit is also a major incentive at a price of P24,999.
