Today, Huawei launched the Matebook D15, their venture into launching a full-fledged PC line. They’ve already released some models like the Matebook X Pro in the 2018 MWS in Barcelona and the Matebook 13 and 14 during the MWS last year. This year, the brand promises more from their Matebook line, starting with the D15.
With its launch, the company hopes to further establish their vision of seamless connectivity between devices. As previewed during the launch of the Mate 30 series, a simple tap connects both PC and smartphone via NFC. Here, one can control and manage the smartphone via PC (and vice versa), drag-transfer files, and more.
George Li, Country Manager of Huawei Consumer Business Group for the Philippines highlighted what makes the new MateBook special: “Last year we previewed what a Huawei product ecosystem would look like, and now with the MateBook D 15, we are one big step closer to realizing that ecosystem’s potential. We envision our consumers accomplishing their tasks or enjoying their entertainment seamlessly from one device to another, and the MateBook D 15 is a significant part of that vision.”
The MateBook D 15 inherits many of Huawei’s signature touches, including a 15.6-inch IPS FullView Display that covers 87% of the panel. It is able to achieve this near-borderless screen thanks to its recessed camera that can be found in between the F6 and F7 keys. It also features a fingerprint sensor built into the power button for secure and efficient device access.
For its slim body, it holds several USB ports —namely a USB C, A 3.0, and A 2.0 port. It also has a HDMI port as well as a 3.5 mm two-in-one port for aux and microphone. The Matebook D 15 charges via USB-C and uses a small, portable charger that can also charge your smartphone. Inside, it has an AMD Ryzen 5 processor coupled with a PCIe 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD and up to 16GB RAM.
Price and Availability:
the Matebook D 15 will retail at P37,990 and pre-orders will open on February 8, 2020 with bundled freebies worth up to P18,460. It will be available in stores on February 15, 2020.
