Huawei has launched the second annual NEXT-IMAGE Awards. It provides Huawei smartphone users from around the world to showcase their best work to a global audience. Started in 2017, the NEXT-IMAGE Awards has had over 157,000 submissions from over 90 different countries last year.
Together with photography and visual culture institution International Center of Photography (ICP), this year’s edition of the awarding will be categorized into six categories: “Good Night” (capturing fun moments in low-light), “Faces” (experimenting with identity and the power of portraiture), “Hello Life” (sharing the emotion or inspiration in everyday experiences), “Check-In” (discovering new places and new experiences there), “Timeline” (filming stories in less than 30 seconds), and “Story Board” (telling a story in nine frames—a grid of images that develop meaningful or intriguing narrative).
Entries will be judged by a panel composed of five industry experts along with five up-and-coming young visual storytellers. The chosen winner will then win a grand prize of US$20,000 (around P1.07 million), a Huawei P20 Pro, and a Huawei Matebook X Pro Laptop. Along with the grand winner, Huawei will also pick six best-in-category winners and 50 runner-up prizes.
The call for entries began on June 13 and will go on until August 31. The winners will be announced in late September 2018.
