Honda rolls out 8-seater Odyssey

Honda Philippines rolls out the New Odyssey EX Variant with 8-passenger seat capacity. A year since the Japan-made Odyssey entered the Philippine market, the Odyssey line-up was expanded as a response to the evolving needs of the market.

From the outside, the New Odyssey EX variant retains its elegant and sedan-like stance with its “Solid Streamline” exterior design concept. The New Odyssey EX variant gets new front and rear bumper designs, new prominent grille and 16-inch alloy wheels. The New Odyssey EX also features Dual Sliding Doors (Power Sliding for Passenger Side).

Interior-wise, overall passenger comfort was kept in mind, which allows the New Odyssey EX to optimally accommodate both passengers and their cargo. The New Odyssey EX gets a 3-passenger, 60:40 split bench for its second row and Honda retained its 3rd Row Magic seats. It is equipped with a fold flat mechanism, which stores the third row under the floor to provide more cargo room and flexibility. The 3rd row also features three-way split reclining structure, which allows passengers to individually fold or recline their seats in preferred angles for utmost relaxation.

This enables the New Odyssey EX to haul 8 passengers (2+3+3 seat configuration) comfortably with generous head, elbow and leg room. It can also hold a sizeable amount of load even when all seats are in use. Furthermore, the center seats on the second and third rows may also be folded to convert the vehicle to a 6-seater with center storage especially for long items.

Onto the technology department, the New Odyssey EX variant is fitted with Instrument Cluster with Multi-Information Display that allows the driver for easy viewing of vehicle-related information. It also consists of a 7-inch Touch Screen Display Audio that shows trip information, phone connectivity, hands-free telephone (HFT), and audio streaming via Bluetooth connectivity. The audio and Bluetooth HFT functions can be operated on the Steering Wheel Controls for convenience and safety in different driving situations. Right under the display audio unit is a touch screen automatic air-conditioning system. Different ports such as USB and the HDMI port are also available in the New Odyssey EX.

The New Odyssey EX is equipped with the same Earth Dreams Technology 2.4 liter DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces a maximum power output of 175 ps at 6,200 rpm, and a maximum torque of 23.0 kg-m at 4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with an Earth Dreams Technology Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) and paddle shifters.

Odyssey EX Variant Interior

Fuel efficiency may be further realized with the New Odyssey EX Variant’s Idle-Stop System, which automatically turns off the engine when the vehicle is on complete stop, and restarts once brake pedal is released. This option may be deactivated manually depending on customer preference. The New Odyssey EX Variant also comes with a cold-storage evaporator, which keeps a comfortable environment for the vehicle during an idle-stop. And to encourage fuel-efficient driving, Honda’s Eco Assist System, which consists of the ECON mode and an eco-coaching ambient light is also available in the New Odyssey EX.

Safety-wise, the New Odyssey EX Variant is equipped with class leading safety features. The complete array of safety features includes Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), driver and passenger SRS airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Multi-View Reverse Camera, which may be displayed on its audio display screen.

The New Odyssey EX Variant is available at all Honda dealerships with a suggested retail price of Php 1,948,000.

The New Odyssey EX Variant will be available in four colors: White Orchid Pearl (additional Php 20,000), Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Super Platinum Metallic.
