Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has launched a new variant for the Honda City and Honda City Hatchback—the 30thAnniversary Pearl Edition. At the launch of the new CR-V at the Glorietta Palm Drive Activity Center last February 7, Honda surprised customers and media by launching the new variant to celebrate 30 years since the City first arrived in the Philippines.
Introduced in the Philippine market in 1996, the City was first launched as an exclusive model for the Asian region and has since become one of Honda’s bestselling models over the years. Honda has launched three generations, with facelifts and special editions in between, including a City MUGEN Limited Edition and the City 1.5 Sport CVT.

The City has also won various awards for its safety and design. In 2020, it won the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) Excellent Award – Consistent 5 Star, emphasizing Honda’s strong commitment to safety and its vision to realize the global goal of a collision-free society by 2050.
Rie Miyake, president of HCPI, announced at the launch that the brand has sold over 150,000 units since its arrival in 1996. Known for its powerful and efficient 1.5-liter 4-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine, stylish and spacious exterior and interior features, and convenience features such as Honda SENSING equipped on all variants, the City packs value at all price points. Today, it is offered in S, V, and RS variants, catering to different customers’ varying needs.

For its 30th Anniversary Pearl Edition variant, the City 1.5 S CVT Honda SENSING is embellished with additional black accents (door mirror/exterior door handle, grille, and black alloy wheels). The City 1.5 S CVT Honda SENSING 30th Anniversary Pearl Edition retails for PHP 1,039,000.

The story of the City continued to evolve in 2021 with the first launch of the Honda City Hatchback to expand the City model line-up serving as the brand’s newest offering in the B-Segment hatchback category. It has since sold over 3,700 units, making it a consistent leader in its segment. The City Hatchback has also received awards from Sunshine Television’s Auto Focus People’s and Media’s Choice Awards under the Sub-compact Hatchback category, namely, 2022 Best Safety Features, ‘2021 Best Design’, and ‘2021 Best Engine Performance.’
