Netflix cheating is a thing. It’s when you watch a show ahead of your significant other. And it looks like there are a lot of cheaters in the Philippines. In the country, 43% of viewers confess to being cheaters… Netflix cheaters, that is.
We are at least 3% behind the global average and as Netflix points out, majority of Filipino Netflix viewers are still pretty loyal (and we’re considered the highest in the region, too).
Cheating is a global occurrence, though. Most cheaters are found in Mexico and Brazil, where 58% of streaming couples have cheated. In Asia, Hong Kong (59%) and India (46%) lead the pack of cheaters. Meanwhile, the most loyal viewers in the world are in Netherlands (73% have not cheated), Germany (65%) and Poland (60%).
According to Netflix’s data, most Pinoys cheat on shows like comedies (one of them being Jane The Virgin). The cheating, though, is supposedly unplanned. With 73% of the Filipino Netflix cheaters saying they give into temptation when a show is too good to stop watching. And 72% of these cheaters do it when they’re home alone.
The Netflix cheaters don’t seem to see anything wrong with their actions, though. A whopping 55% of Filipino users would cheat if they could get away with it. And only 43% of the cheaters here would admit they Netflix cheated on someone.
But trust us, no one likes cheaters, ‘fess up and learn a tip or two from Michael Bolton:
