Sustaining its commitment to contribute to empowering underprivileged Filipino youth through education, H.A.R.I. Foundation, Inc. (HFI), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), turned over a generous cash donation to its newest partner, the Sisters of Mary School (SMS).
“Through this donation, we reaffirm HFI’s advocacy for education as the most effective and long-term way of empowering our youth. But this is not just a one-off CSR campaign, H.A.R.I. Foundation partnered with the Sisters of Mary School Girlstown and Boystown because of the excellent voc-tech training that they receive in high school. Once they graduate, we can further hone the skills of their best students who wish to undergo the automotive training courses that we offer at Hyundai Dream Centre-Philippines,” says HFI President Ma. Hyundai Dream Centre Philippines (HDCP) is a world-class training and education hub built to provide underprivileged but talented young people the highest caliber of training and education in automotive technology. HDCP graduates now count to 80 that are currently employed as technicians and service professionals at Hyundai dealerships in the country.
The Sisters of Mary Congregation was founded in 1964 in Busan, South Korea by Venerable Aloysius Schwartz, an American diocesan priest, with the aim of providing free educational and vocational welfare to underprivileged youth, medical care to the sick and the dying, and shelter service to the homeless and helpless. Venerable Aloysius founded the Sisters of Mary in the Philippines in 1985.
There are now two graduates from Sisters of Mary Boystown Cavite already in training in Course 2 at Hyundai Dream Centre-Philippines. HFI intends to increase the number of SMS graduates to its succeeding batches of scholars.
“This education to employment program fulfills our aim to give dignified careers to our youth. Unlike other programs that stop at graduation, we strive to bring these skilled technicians to our growing number of Passenger Car (PC) and Commercial Vehicle (CV) dealerships. This in turn benefits our customers who deserve world-class quality services,” Ms. Agudo concluded.
