When Disney chose to collaborate with homegrown skin-caring makeup brand Happy Skin late last year, the reaction that the Disney Princess-inspired makeup collection generated from Filipinas was nothing short of overwhelming. The limited edition products, expected to last for a whole year, were nearly wiped out of Happy Skin’s stores and counters in just a couple of months.
“Even during our pre-selling of the Princess-inspired lippies, we set a record at online retail giant Zalora. Stocks were sold out in half a day!” confirms Happy Skin co-founder Rissa Mananquil-Trillo. “This proves that the partnership of skin-caring makeup and the magic of Disney Princesses tugged at the hearts of so many Filipinas and delivered happiness.”
Especially on social media, fans of both brands made it clear that the release of more Princess-inspired lippies was right on top of their wish lists. And both Happy Skin and Disney are responding to the clamor in a most fitting and magical way.
Are you ready to enchant?
“The live-action remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is one of this year’s most-anticipated films, and we knew that a new collection coinciding with the movie’s release was another opportunity for us to bring to life the essence of a princess,” shares Happy Skin co-founder Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez. “Belle is the epitome of beauty, bravery, and loyalty, and we want to celebrate these virtues.” Rissa emphasizes: “It’s also perfect that the movie will be released in March, which is International Women’s Month.”
On the heels of the bestselling Happy Skin x Disney is Happy Skin x Disney Beauty and the Beast, a limited edition makeup collection that celebrates the modern princess, her independence, and inner beauty. It features two new lip products, the Happy Skin x Beauty and the Beast Moisturizing Matte Lip Kit (P1,199) and the Happy Skin x Disney Beauty and the Beast Liquid Matte Lipstick (P699), which come in soon-to-be iconic rose shades. The matte-yet-moisturizing lippies contain Happy Skin’s trademark Cupuaçu Butter that hydrates the lips like no other.
“Happy Skin has always been known to empower women with easy-to-use makeup and this new Disney collection now features lip kit, which contains a liquid matte lipstick and a matte lip liner that help keep your lip color in place,” explains Rissa. “When you have makeup that works well for you, like long-lasting lip products that sit comfortably on your pout, you can focus on more important matters—like chasing your dreams and passions, and inspiring other women, too.”
The process of bringing this collection to life was meticulous, from perfecting the shade to the packaging. “We worked very closely with the Disney team to create this collection,” says Jacqe. “We studied clips from the movie and found the best match of Belle’s lip color. The image of the rose inside the bell jar is also memorable for Beauty and the Beast fans, so we really wanted to capture this image in the packaging. It’s a symbol of hope, love, and happiness that Happy Skin wants to share to more Filipinas.”
Rissa explains: “Belle loves to read and explore, so it was a must that the packaging of the Happy Skin x Disney Beauty and the Beast Lip Kit was book-inspired! Like the movie, the design was meant to enchant and inspire at the same time.” She adds, “Everything echoes the intricate and luxe deep blues and golden hues from the film. The silhouette of Belle is a reminder that, yes, being independent is strong and beautiful, too.”
To roundup the collection, two Belle-inspired products from the original Happy Skin X Disney release will be relaunched—the Enchanted Rose Luminous Mesh Blush (P899, available in Pink or Peach,) and the Tale As Old As Time Brightening Powder Foundation (P1,499, available in Soft Beige or Natural Beige).
For those eyeing first dibs, pre-selling of the collection has started on Zalora. Happy Skin x Disney Beauty and the Beast will be available in Happy Skin stores starting March 16th.
