Hangga’t Hindi Pa Huli Ang Lahat music video calls on Filipino solidarity to stand for truth and counter rampant disinfo

Only a few days left until the May 2022 Philippine national elections, and efforts to combat the rampant and outright spread of disinformation have been more vital than ever before.

Many different artists have already expressed their dissent and have been making works to contribute to bringing back the lost respect for truth and honesty. The music video of the song, 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚’𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐏𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐥𝐢 𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 (𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐨̂, 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐨), by DAKILA Artist Collective Member and musician Johnoy Danao featuring artists such as Bullet Dumas, Ja Quintana, Pepe Herrera, and Gab Pangilinan, was launched to commemorate World Press Freedom Day and now streaming on Youtube.

“Ang tahasang panlilinlang sa taumbayan ang yumuyurak sa diwa ng pagiging Pilipino — maka-tao, maka-diyos, makabayan. ‘Wag nating hayaang ‘di na natin masambit ang salitang ‘taas-noo’,” Johnoy Danao said.

Directed by Kel Fausto, the 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚’𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢 𝐏𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐥𝐢 𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭 (𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐨̂, 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐨) music video is a collaborative effort of many ordinary citizens who want to address the crucial role of the Filipinos in voting for the right candidates in the upcoming elections.

“Like covid, we’re fighting an invisible virus infecting the minds of Filipinos around the world. The election season revealed how grave the situation is, that people resorted to alienation of their families and friends to stand up for what they believe in, whether or not it has factual bearing. The video resonates the song’s call for reinforcing the bayanihan spirit and love of country to fight disinformation,” director Kel Fausto added.

In partnership with DAKILA, the production hopes to continue igniting the people’s resistance in combating disinformation and against trampling of our rights and freedoms.

According to DAKILA’s Public Relations Manager Floyd Tiogangco, “Art like music has always been used by the Filipino people to stand up and resist oppressive systems as seen by history during the Marcos dictatorship, and we will continue using it to achieve the nation we deserve. Through this song, we hope to call on every Filipino to stand up for truth especially in this crucial time so that we can make informed choices for the leaders that we will elect on May 9.”

DAKILA’s efforts to counter disinformation also includes on ground activities such as Palengke Tours where DAKILA members and its youth networks distribute political comics to combat disinformation, fake news, and historical distortion by Filipino comic artist Tarantadong Kalbo and voters’ education materials translated in different Filipino languages. DAKILA is a member of FactsFirstPH, a one of a kind multi-layered and multi-sectoral initiative to fight disinformation.
