It’s like autofill on phones but better. One of the newest features coming to Gmail is Smart Compose. Announced at Google I/O 2018, it suggests complete sentences in your emails as you type. If you like what’s been suggested, you just hit tab and it’ll complete the sentence for you. The feature works in the background so you can just go about writing emails as you usually would. What it aims to do though is make it easier and faster for you to compose an email that is grammatically correct. Smart Compose is also capable of recognize context, so if you send out an email on a Friday, it’ll prompt you to end your message with “Have a great weekend!”
Gmail consumer users can expect the new feature to come out in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, G Suite users will need to wait a few more months. For consumer users, you have to make sure you’re using the new Gmail. You can enable this by clicking on the gear icon on the top right of Gmail while on your browser. And then you need to scroll down the General tab in Settings and enable “Experimental access” to get Smart Compose.
