These days, we rely heavily on our phones for content creation. And let’s be honest — we all love that compact form factor that lets us get things done without pricey gear. Thankfully, brands like Xiaomi are stepping up the camera features made for photography enthusiasts and content creators. Enter the Xiaomi 15T, spotlighting mobile photography with its triple-camera system co-engineered with Leica. In this article, we’ll find out if it truly lives up to the hype.
Design and build
When it comes to design, I’m drawn to minimalist designs — there’s just something about understated elegance that really speaks to me. So when I saw the Xiaomi 15T with a clean aesthetic, I knew we’d click instantly. My review unit came in Gray with a matte finish. To suit different tastes and styles, there are also the Black and Rose Gold color options.

Another thing that I’m partial to is boxy frames; they’re easier to grip while still looking premium. Some can feel a bit sharp on the palms, but this one doesn’t compromise on comfort. It’s also relatively light and slim, weighing just 195g with a thickness of 7.50mm.
Keeping a device looking pristine and elegant is just as important, which makes durability features all the more welcome. On the Xiaomi 15T, you get IP68 dust and water resistance, a glass fiber back, and a display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. With these, I feel more at ease on rainy days, during clumsy moments, or when luck just isn’t on my side.
Display

Up front, the Xiaomi 15T features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 2772 × 1280 resolution, plus Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support. It was truly a visual feast — colors looked naturally vibrant, details were crisp, and everything felt smooth. You get to enjoy all that on a large screen, which I witnessed firsthand while watching my favorite Netflix series. Outdoor viewing is no problem either, thanks to its 3200 nits of peak brightness.
And since we love consuming content as much as creating it, we spend a huge amount of time doomscrolling. That’s when we could use the eye protective features like the 3840Hz PWM dimming and TUV Rheinland certifications to minimize eye fatigue, and ultimately feel less guilty about our screentime.
Camera

For the main event, the Xiaomi 15T has a triple camera setup co-engineered with Leica: a 50MP (f/1.7) Light Fusion 800 sensor with OIS, a 50MP (f/1.9) telephoto camera with 2× optical zoom, and a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide camera.

Lately, I’ve been reaching for the telephoto camera more than the main one. While it’s limited to 2× optical zoom, it still performs impressively for shooting buildings, food close-ups, and aesthetic cafés. It retains fine detail and reproduces colors true to life. You can go up to 60× digital zoom, which is nice to have, though not something you’ll use often.

The Xiaomi 15T truly shines across different lighting scenarios. Even in harsh light, it delivers impressive results with a wide dynamic range, keeping my compositions balanced without losing detail in shadows or highlights. Lowlight shots are equally impressive, proving that it can hold its own when light is not abundant.

You can get creative with your shots by choosing between Leica’s color profiles: Authentic for true-to-life tones, or Vibrant for punchier colors. During my Vietnam trip, the Leica Vibrant was my default to truly showcase the beautiful colors of the city. It was able to achieve what I wanted naturally, without looking oversaturated or overly constrasty.

For selfie enthusiasts, the Xiaomi 15T features a 32MP (f/2.2) front camera with a 21mm equivalent focal length, so it’s easy to fit in more people or scenery while getting those high-quality selfies.
For those who love shooting videos and jumping on short-form trends, the rear camera supports 4K at up to 60fps, while the front camera records in 4K at up to 30fps
Performance

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 15T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra chipset. This is paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. For everyday use, it feels fast and responsive, whether I’m multitasking, shooting and editing photos and videos, or scrolling through social media, everything runs smoothly without a hitch.

For gaming, it handles casual titles like Mobile Legends well, delivering smooth performance without lags or frame drops. And with proper cooling from the Xiaomi 3D IceLoop System, it can carry out heavier loads without noticeable heating.
OS and Apps
Aside from all the hardware talk, the Xiaomi 15T will run HyperOS 3, which is based on Android 16. This brings a fresh new interface look across lock screens, wallpapers, icons, widgets, and notifications. It all felt familiar too, almost as if it borrowed a page from the iOS playbook.
To add to that, with the Xiaomi HyperAI, users can experience deeper interconnectivity — sharing, syncing, and collaborating across devices more seamlessly. At the same time, it incorporates several AI features to enhance creativity and productivity. This includes AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, AI Search, AI Gallery Search, AI Interpreter, AI Creativity Assistants, and the list goes on.
I know all the features will be useful, but for my day-to-day work, the AI creativity tools are the ones I’ll really maximize, especially the AI Erase tool for my photos.
It does come with some pre-installed apps, but not to the point that it’s overwhelming. At the very least, a few of them are apps I can actually see myself using.
Another thing users can look forward to is the Xiaomi Astral Communication. This technology allows voice communication between Xiaomi 15T devices up to 1.3km, even without cellular or Wi-Fi networks.
Battery
The Xiaomi 15T is built with a 5500mAh battery, which, depending on your usage, can last you a day or two. With my moderate use, shooting content, browsing social media, answering emails, and unwinding with my favorite shows, I comfortably get a full day on a single charge. Perhaps it can extend itself longer with lighter usage.
When it’s time to power up, the 67W HyperCharge takes the Xiaomi 15T from 0 to 100% in under an hour — a short wait considering the long screentime you get in return.
Verdict

The Xiaomi 15T is changing the game in mobile photography with Leica-tuned shooting profiles, a capable triple-camera setup, and smart AI features. It equips creators and photography enthusiasts with the right tools to excel and improve in their craft without having to rely on expensive camera equipment.
Impressively, the Xiaomi 15T doesn’t just deliver in the camera department. You’re also getting a sleek design, a gorgeous display, a long-lasting battery, solid everyday performance, and smart features — all for PHP 27,999. That’s pretty great value if you ask me.
