Full review: TechLife Pad Lite 8”

Back in the good old days, technology wasn’t really a necessity when it came to learning. But times are different. No matter the level of education, students are using tech more and more to enhance their experience.

However, not everyone can afford the top-of-the-line laptops and tablets. Young students and their parents can benefit from entry-level tablets that can do the basics well. The TechLife Pad Lite 8” might be just what they are looking for.

Design & build

Two color options are available for the Tech Life Pad Lite: Champagne Gold and Lilac Purple. It comes in a matte finish that allows for a clean and simple look. Despite its subtlety, the colors provide that pinch of vibrancy.

The tablet is also quite compact in its build. Its thickness clocks in at 8.5mm, and it weighs just under 340g. Portability is the name of the game as you can easily carry it around in your hands or seamlessly store it in any bag.

A detachable stand is included as well, which is a nice little touch. It’s extremely useful for watching videos or even scrolling through documents and presentations. The stand definitely provides a bit more versatility.

Display

The device features an 8” LCD display with an HD resolution. It is decent enough for consuming video learning material or even enjoying a bit of streaming content as well. Surprisingly, the display has a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes the screen both smooth and responsive.

Camera

In terms of taking photos, I won’t be delving into this aspect too much as there isn’t much to talk about. The TechLife Pad Lite is equipped with 5MP shooters for both the front and rear cameras.

It does capture decent photos in a well-lit environment. The best use-cases for the cameras are probably for everyday social media sharing or snapping notes and documents for your school work.

For taking videos, both cameras support up to 1080p@30FPS.

Performance

Under the hood, the TechLife Pad Lite is powered by the entry-level Unisoc T606, paired with an ARM Mali-G57 GPU. It also comes only with 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM (expandable to 8GB).

It can handle basic everyday tasks such as browsing, streaming, creating documents and maybe even some light gaming. The built-in storage is actually quite good for the price range, but I would personally struggle with it.

As previously mentioned, light gaming can be done on this tablet. Simpler 2D games and maybe a few MOBAs (with adjusted graphics settings) would be the better options. Anything that requires more oomph such as COD Mobile, Genshin Impact or PUBG Mobile could struggle.

The tablet runs on TechLife UI and Android 15. It supports 4G/LTE connectivity as well, in case you decide to pop in a sim card. Google Kids Space also comes pre-installed which allows parents to have a dedicated kid-friendly space on the device.

Battery & charging

A 6000mAh battery powers the TechLife Pad Lite, which is one of the more decent ones in this segment. TechLife claims that this is enough for 7.5 hours of streaming, 29.5 hours of blasting your music (with the screen turned off) or 6.5 hours of video playback at maximum volume and brightness.

In terms of charging, the tablet supports a 10W charge via USB-C cable. This will take you around 3 and a half hours to fully charge the device from a drained battery. Reverse charging is supported as well. On a small sidenote, the charging port is found on the top edge of the device.

Verdict

Overall, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” is an entry-level tablet that comes in quite a simple package. But given its portability, long battery life (for its price range), and its ability to do the basic tasks well, it might be an ideal option for parents looking for a good starter tablet for their young ones. The best part? It’s priced at just Php 4,999.
