Durability seems to be the trend for smartphones at the start of 2026, and the REDMI Note 15 Series is one to hop on the bandwagon. However, with numerous competitors flexing the toughness of their devices through gimmicks and stress tests, how does one truly stand out?

When the durability playing field starts to look even, it’s worth looking beyond sheer toughness to see which device offers more. In this review, we’ll take a look at what the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G can bring to the table.

Design and build

Toughness and elegance rarely go together, yet somehow the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G was able to incorporate both in one sleek design. This variant is available in Mocha Brown, Glacier Blue, and Black, with the latter being the one we’re reviewing.

The matte finish, solid heft, and symmetrical camera layout give it a premium feel and look. I’ve always favored designs with minimalist, muted colors, so the Black option ticks all the boxes for me.

The device leans toward the heavier side, weighing 207.1g with a thickness of 8.19mm. Even if fatigue sets in and you accidentally drop it, a suite of durability features helps it withstand impacts, drops (up to 2.5 meters), and everyday wear and tear.

It features IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance, along with a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 display and fiberglass back panel. By combining these materials, the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G earns its “REDMI Titan Structure” title and gains an edge over its competitors, helping protect both the display and body, especially for users with “buttery” fingers.

I witnessed its durability first-hand during our trip in Mövenpick, Cebu, where we put the device through a series of stress tests. These included shooting it with an air gun, dropping it into tanks filled with water or sand. There’s also an activity where we putted a golf ball directly toward the screen of the phone. And in every test, the device held its ground, with both display and rear left unscathed.

Display

Up front, the device sports a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Coupled with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, the screen delivers rich, punchy colors, sharp detail, and smooth visuals. This makes it a great companion for watching movies, scrolling on social media, and gaming.

With a peak brightness of 3200 nits, the screen is able to stay clear and legible even when viewing under direct sunlight. This will come in handy for those daily commuters or those who spend a lot of time outdoors.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G also comes with a suite of eye-protective features to help with long screen time for all you doomscrollers, including me. These include 3840Hz PWM Dimming and TUV Rheinland certifications for Low Blue Light, Flicker-Free, Circadian-Friendly display modes.

Camera

On the flip side, the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G houses a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.4″ sensor and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). This allows you to capture more light and reduce blur from unsteady hands, so you can have clearer shots even in low-light scenarios, which was evident when I was shooting at night during the Xiaomi launch event and the afterparty. Image noise was very minimal, although software processing did a lot of legwork too.

Even without a dedicated telephoto lens, the device still managed to deliver decent zoomed-in shots at up to 4x zoom; it makes use of AI image reconstruction and clarity enhancement to retain the details in my photos. I tend to reach for a telephoto lens more often than 1x when shooting, so it’s great to see that this setup can come close to an optical-grade zoom experience in good lighting.

When it comes to selfies, the device does a good job of producing properly exposed shots, even when shooting against the light or under harsh lighting conditions.

It comes with numerous AI features for editing your photos to your liking: AI Erase Pro, AI Retouch, AI Image Enhancement, and AI Reflection Removal.

And lastly, for video, the device can record up to 4K at 30fps, which is ideal for capturing detailed, high-quality footage, especially for content creation, or even just capturing everyday memories.

Performance and OS

Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor with 12GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. With this setup, along with the Xiaomi IceLoop cooling system, I was able to run several apps and multitask without experiencing any hitches. This involves shooting photos and videos and editing them right after.

There are several useful productivity features as well, such as AI Writing, AI Recording, and AI Search, to name a few,  which can help streamline your workflow. You can also use Google Gemini and Circle to Search for quick solutions to whatever you’re looking for.

When it comes to entertainment, the device handles casual gaming really well. I didn’t encounter any frame drops or lag while playing Mobile Legends. It was an immersive experience all throughout especially with the bright, vivid display.

Battery and charging

The REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G comes packed with a 6500mAh battery, featuring 10% silicon-carbon content. This is paired with Xiaomi’s Surge battery management system, which rated up to 1600 charge cycles while maintaining at least 80% battery health, which translates to roughly six years of regular use.

My typical workday involves light-to-moderate usage, including answering emails, editing short-form videos and photos, posting on social media, and the like. I can make it last throughout my typical workflow without having to reach for a charger, and perhaps, even have some wiggle room to do some doom-scrolling and streaming.

When you’re running low on juice, a 30-min charge can power the phone to 70%, while a full charge takes about 45 minutes using the 100W HyperCharge adapter. It also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing you to power up your devices when needed.

Verdict

All things considered, the REDMI Note 15 Pro+ 5G stands out with its strong durability while still delivering a well-rounded experience. It offers a pleasing display for entertainment, performance and battery life that are more than capable for multitasking and casual gaming, and a camera setup that performs well for both day and night shots. For PHP 25,999, it presents a solid all-around package.
