The Microsoft Office suite has always been one of those elusive apps that we so desperately want but can’t because it isn’t free. There have been free solutions, like the reliable Google Docs. But the sleek and sexy Microsoft Office suite has been beyond our grasps. But all that’s changed now. The Microsoft Office suite is now free for Android, the iPad, and the iPhone.
Recently, Microsoft has announced a partnership with Dropbox to supplement the suite with Dropbox’s cloud storage services. The effects of that partnership are now made apparent. Users will no longer need to have a Microsoft 365 subscription to edit using the suite and store files in the Dropbox cloud.
Microsoft is not foreign to offering free services as the suite has been free online, similar to Google Docs, for a long while, albeit not as popular as the Google variant. This is just their way of offering this service more seamlessly for mobile clients.
The iOS version is already available, while the Android version is open for sign-ups with a release by December. However, Microsoft will not support devices running Lollipop for now. The link for signing up is here.
