Ford Philippines recognizes excellence in Philippine Motoring journalism with 24th Henry Ford Awards

Ford Philippines has officially kicked off the 24^th Henry Ford Awards (HFA), the industry’s longest-running awards program that recognizes excellence in Philippine motoring journalism.

Motoring journalists are invited to submit their stories, photos, and videos when the online submission portal goes live on January 6, 2025. Content that will be submitted must have been published or posted between January 1 to December 31, 2024.

This year’s HFA has expanded to include four (4) new categories:

• Automotive Column of the Year: This award recognizes the best and most insightful and thought-provoking opinion piece on an industry topic or automotive brand published on print media or on the digital platform.

• Automotive Lifestyle Story of the Year: This award recognizes the best feature story about a vehicle and its relevance to the daily grind. The story goes beyond the enumeration of vehicle features, but instead, how a vehicle enables one’s passions or interests, intentionally staying away from the motoring jargon to resonate with non-motoring audiences. This category is also open to lifestyle news outlets covering automotive stories. 

• Automotive Technology Story of the Year: This award recognizes the best feature story about a vehicle and how its technological features and innovations impact the driving experience. This category is also open to technology-based news outlets covering automotive stories. 

• Automotive Electric Vehicle (EV) Story of the Year: This award recognizes the best feature on an electric vehicle (EV) and its many iterations, either newly-launched or driven in 2024. 

These additions complete the 10 regular categories, which include Automotive Vehicle Review of the Year (Article), Automotive Vehicle Review of the Year (Video), Automotive Industry Feature of the Year, Automotive Launch Story of the Year, Automotive Short Form Video of the Year, and Automotive Photograph of the Year. 

Additionally, three Ford-specific categories (Ford Automotive Feature of the Year, Ford Automotive Video of the Year, and Ford Automotive Short-Form Video of the Year) and two people awards for Automotive Writer of the Year and Automotive Media Outlet of the Year will be presented. The criteria for judging for Automotive Writer of the Year and Automotive Media Outlet of the Year will be retained from last year, where the motoring journalist and motoring news outlet with the most number of HFA wins will be proclaimed as the winners. 

As in previous years, entries will undergo a rigorous two-phase judging process with each phase having its own set of judges composed of respected professionals from the academe and automotive-related industries, as well as experts in creative and design, photography and digital publishing.

Winners will be announced during the awards night in May 2025.
