After rival site SmugMug bought Flickr from Yahoo, some big changes were rolled out. One of them that impacted free users is a new membership model. Users had to pay US$50 for Pro membership to keep all their images. If they opt to keep their accounts for free, they would be limited to 1,000 images per account. Flickr gave a deadline of February 5 to download the images that exceeded the 1,000 photo limit. (Flickr was going to delete older images first.) But now the company has extended the deadline to March 12.
The change was met with resistance because users faced roadblocks like being able to only download 500 images at a time as well as slow download speeds. If you took advantage of the 1TB storage, then you have your work cut out for yourself. Better start downloading, if you haven’t yet.
