Just when I thought that the features of the Freebuds 3i couldn’t get any better at P5,990, Huawei releases a more premium addition to the FreeBuds lineup. Introducing the flagship model — the Huawei FreeBuds Pro. Now let’s take a look at it and have a rundown on its specs to know what to expect.
The FreeBuds Pro comes in Carbon Black, Ceramic White, and Silver Frost which we have on hand and I would say I prefer among the three colors available. Huawei made a breakthrough for traditional earphones when it comes to its color and feel because of its reflective body and matte case that has a subtle metallic shine to it. Its shape may be quite similar to the Apple AirPods Pro, while the earphones’ reflectiveness reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy Buds. The earbuds come with two extra silicon ear tips if you prefer a smaller or bigger size than the default medium size on the earphones to be able to get the perfect fit.
Hybrid Active-Noise Cancellation
The earbuds use hybrid Active Noise-Cancellation (ANC) technology to detect external and in-ear noise environments, reducing background noise by up to 40dB. This intelligent and dynamic new noise-cancellation technology quickly identifies the type of noise in the wearer’s environment and automatically switches to the corresponding noise-cancellation mode, delivering new improvements to comfort, freedom and the communication experience.
If you prefer to deactivate the noise cancellation to be aware of the sounds around you. You can simply tap and hold the earbuds handle to switch from noise cancellation to Transparent mode without taking off the device, so that you can enjoy an interrupted audio experience. It also offers a unique Voice Transparent mode, which can properly reduce the ambient sound so you can hear other people’s voices clearly. Even with active noise cancellation on, you will be able to speak to people and hear them clearly, as well as hear important messages such as train and bus stop announcements.
Despite the earbuds’ size, it creates an excellent sound quality experience and pursues the trend of smart hearing with customized acoustic components, AI and chipset. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro adds a customised damper between the speaker and the dynamic driver. This technology is derived from Hi-Fi. The damper is like the “anti-shake” system of the earphone. When the dynamic driver vibrates, it can effectively stabilise the acoustic system of the entire earphone, reduce the occurrence of rolling vibration that affects the sound quality, and ensure the stable output of the vibration system to present the accurate performance of the music.
To enhance the user experience, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro support full dual connectivity across devices and can easily switch automatically between them. Huawei is one of the first to come out with this technology giving their earbuds a smoother transition among different devices. They also support better HD sound quality, with a large 11mm dynamic driver and dynamic equalization, working with real-time sound adjustment to ensure a fully immersive audio-visual experience.
Battery and charging
When noise cancellation is turned off, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro can call for four hours or play music for seven hours with a single charge. Together with the charging case, it can last up to 18 hours of calls or 30 hours of music playback. With noise cancellation turned on, the call time of a single charge is up to three and a half hours. Together with the charging case, the total battery life is up to 16 hours. For listening time with noise cancellation on, a single charge could last up to four and a half hours, with the charging case, the total battery life is up to 20 hours.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro not only has excellent battery life, but also has superb charging efficiency. It supports both wired and wireless Huawei SuperCharge. Compared with other brands in the industry, it has a faster charging speed and more charging methods.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro also utilizes a series of smart and green innovative technologies and has also obtained the world’s first SGS Grade I Certification, demonstrating care for our consumers’ wellbeing. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro’s main components use materials that meet environmental protection standards. The battery and antenna align with safety standards while its design and materials fully protect the consumers’ ear canal health with comfort in mind. Consequently, attentive measures are put in place to assure that the listening experience including noise reduction, calls and music playback is protected for all users.
