You might have friends who have been spamming you with snowmen and a Christmas tree on Facebook Messenger. You will have to thank Facebook for that. The company’s private messaging app has some season-appropriate features.
All you have to do is head over to the info button on one of your conversations on Android or tap on the name of your contact on if you’re on iOS. From there you just select the emojis you want to use. If you select the Christmas tree or snowman, virtual snowflakes will be falling from your mobile screen.
You can get the same effect if you download the Star Wars: The Force Awakens sticker pack and select the “Brrr” sticker, or some of the A Charlie Brown Xmas stickers, or a lot of the Frozen stickers (because, well, Frozen).
Another season-appropriate feature is Facebook’s wider release of Photo Magic for Messenger. What this feature does is when you take snaps this holiday season, Facebook will use its facial recognition technology to find your friends who are on Messenger so you can send the photo you took privately to them, in case they want it.
You can opt out of this, of course, if you find it too creepy for your liking. But if you like the convenience, just head to the settings part of your Facebook Messenger.
And then select “Photos & Media.”
And then just toggle the checkbox in “Photo Magic” option.
