Barcelona, Spain—Huawei today announced their Together 2020 product lineup through a global livestream. Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO, Richard Yu presented the brand’s strategy in the coming year starting with IoT with a model of 1 + 8 + N. The ‘1’ stands for the smartphone while the ‘8’ comprises of the group’s secondary focus—PCs, tablets, wearables, TVs, and speakers—to name a few. ‘N’, to quote Buzz Lightyear, is “to infinity and beyond.”
New Devices
Following last year’s launch of the Mate X, comes Huawei’s second foldable device—the Mate Xs. Unfolded, it sports an 8-inch OLED display and when folded, has a main screen of 6.6 inches and a secondary screen of 6.38 inches. It is powered by the same chipset that powers the Mate 30 series, the Kirin 990 5G and is paired to a 16-core Mali-G76 GPU. It features 8GB of RAM + 256 GB of ROM and can be expanded via external SD card up to 256 GB.
As for its cameras, the Mate Xs has a rear quad camera set-up comprising of Leica lens with a 40 MP main wide angle lens (f/1.8) + 16 MP ultra-wide angle lens (f/2.2) + 8MP telephoto lens (f/2.4, OIS) + ToF camera. There are no front cameras here, too, as the rear cameras double as the front camera when folded.
It will run on EMUI 10 based on Android 10 and come with 4,500 mAh of battery. The Mate Xs will be available globally by March 2020 and will retail for €2,499 (~P138,901).
Alongside the Mate Xs, Huawei launched the MatePad Pro and MatePad Pro 5G, giving the iPad Pro a little bit of friendly competition. The tablet is a dream for mobile workers and multitaskers. It’s 7.2mm thin with a 10.8” punch screen display that gives it a 90% screen-to-body ratio. And, it packs in Huawei’s powerful tech with the same Kirin 990 5G (Kirin 990 for the MatePad Pro) powering it. It supports 27 W wireless charging as well as reverse charging and 40W wired charging. It also comes with a separate pen and keyboard accessory.
The MatePad Pro 5G will retail at €799 (~P44,478) for the 8GB + 256GB variant and €949 (~P52,828) for the 8GB + 512GB variant; availability is yet to be announced. The MatePad Pro, on the other hand, will be available by April 2020 and will retail at €549 (~P30,561) for the 6GB + 128GB (WiFi) version, €649 (~P36,128) for the 8GB + 256GB (WiFi) version, €749 (~P41,694) for the 8GB + 256 GB (WiFi) version with the M-pencil included and with a vegan leather case back, €599 (~P33,344) for the 6GB + 128 GB (LTE) version, €699 (~P38,911) for the 8GB + 256 GB (LTE) version. Its accessories will retail at €99 (~P5,511) for the M-Pencil, €129 (~P7,181) for the Smart Keyboard, €39 (~P2,171) for the MatePad Sleeve and Folio Cover.
Last among the major product line ups is the Matebook X Pro, Huawei’s flagship full view laptop. It comes with a 13.9” touch capacitive screen, 10th Gen Intel Processors, and is 5G enabled. It will retail at €1,499 (~P83,445).
Yu also presented a 5G WiFi router, the CPE Pro 2, that will be the future module for IoT. Huawei hopes to continue to grow an all-scenario seamless solution that will connect their IoT through the 5G platform.
