MG Philippines joins the electric revolution with two new, exciting, pure EV models
MG Philippines makes an electrified stamp on the local automotive landscape with the introduction of two new, exciting pure electric vehicles (EV): the refined and sophisticated Marvel R EV SUV, and the fun and sporty MG4 EV Hatchback. The arrival of MG Philippines’ new EV models aligns with a rising interest among Filipino motorists for modern, sustainable, fully electric mobility solutions.
The new MG Marvel R EV SUV and the MG4 EV Hatchback make their official Philippine debut from October 6-8, 2023, via a public launch event at the BGC Activity Grounds at Bonifacio High Street. Both the Marvel R EV SUV and the MG4 EV Hatchback will be available for public test drive on these days and exciting prizes such as gaming consoles, gadgets, and official MG merchandise await all who sign up and take these new generation MG EVs for a spin around a sanctioned test drive route around BGC. Aside from the new MG EVs, everyone can take the MG HS SUV and MG GT Sport out for a drive.
Concurrent with the public launch event, the Marvel R EV SUV and the MG4 EV Hatchback will be available for retail at all select, authorized MG dealers. This list of dealerships which are ready for EV orders and bookings includes: MG Alabang, MG North Edsa, MG Libis, MG Commonwealth, MG Malabon, MG Makati, MG San Fernando, MG Santa Rosa, MG Iloilo, MG Cebu Mandaue, MG Cebu Talisay, MG Davao, and MG Davao Matina. Moving forward, MG Philippines aims to develop the entire local MG dealership network to follow this standard: making dealerships EV-ready, while still addressing the needs of customers who own and drive internal combustion engine (ICE) MG vehicles.
MG MARVEL R EV UV: ELEGANCE, ELECTRIFIED
A refined, well-poised, and energized drive awaits behind the wheel of the sophisticated MG Marvel R EV SUV. The vehicle possesses a polished exterior highlighted by striking LED daytime running lights, headlights, and taillights, and flowing body lines that provide a smooth contour from tip to tail.

As for the Marvel R EV SUV’s driving stats, there’s a lot to write home to about. A 2-Gear Electric Drive System is fitted to the vehicle’s rear axle, pumping out 186 Ps (137 Kw) and 410Nm of torque, allowing the Marvel R to accelerate from 0-100km/h in a quick 7.9 seconds while giving it the capability of hitting a top speed of 200km/h.
And “range anxiety” is not a concern for drivers as the Marvel R is equipped with a 70kWh battery that offers up to 402km of range. The battery can be charged from 5-80% in just 43 minutes via a Type-2 DC charger. The Marvel R EV SUV also received the Best Large SUV 2023 award from La Tercera, one of the leading newspapers and media outfits in South America.
The MG Marvel R EV SUV is available in the Philippines as a single variant, with an SRP of Php 2,588,888. It is complemented by an 8-year/160,000km EV battery warranty, and a 5-year/100,000 vehicle warranty.
MG4 EV HATCHBACK: ELECTRIFIED PERFORMANCE
Stepping into the world of pure electric mobility is fun and easy with the MG4 EV Hatchback. Playful, functional, spacious, a joy to drive, and bursting with modern technology, the MG4 channels the youthful energy of MG in a purely electric package.
For starters, it’s a standout looker, with an eye-catching front fascia, a sloping, aerodynamic roof that ends at its dual-wing spoiler, and a stylish rear light set highlighted by Cygnus cross-shaped accent lights with a full LED taillight assembly.
Inside, a simple yet sophisticated instrument panel and ergonomic floating center console give the MG4 a unique cabin layout. Up on the dash, you’ll find a 7” full LCD screen that displays the vehicle’s driving stats, and a 10.25” floating touch screen with reduced reflective rate that’s equipped with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Below that is a wireless charging pad for your mobile phone, removing any hassles you might encounter from messy charging cables. The MG4 has a lot to offer in terms of a comfortable and well-appointed cabin but this car is a real performer, too. Sharp steering, a tight turning radius, and a rigid, aluminum alloy subframe with 50:50 front and rear load split and low a center of gravity all contribute to the MG4’s exceptional handling and comfort.
And in terms of power, the MG4 is definitely no slouch. With an effective 203Ps (150 Kw) and 250Nm of torque driven from the rear wheels, the MG4 can launch from 0-100km/h in just 7.1 seconds and can reach a top speed of 161km/h in nothing flat.
The MG4’s range is likewise impressive, providing up to 435km of range on a single full charge. And speaking of charging: the MG4’s battery can fill from 10-80% in as low as 26 minutes when plugged into a Type-2 DC charger at a maximum rate of 14kW.
And it should be mentioned that just within this year, the MG4 EV Hatchback was the top recipient of some of the most prestigious awards in global motoring. It has been recognized as the 2023 Car of the Year and 2023 Best Family Car from the UK Car of the Year Awards; the Bargain of the Year 2023 award from Top Gear; EV of the Year from Automotive Management Awards; Car of the Year 2023 from the Irish Times; and the 2023 Car of the Year from Which EV.
