The partnership between the two companies is part of their commitment to support the country’s transition to cleaner energy, and to promote green and sustainable transport operations.
With the pandemic making on-demand delivery an essential need in our day-to-day lives, two companies are teaming up to offer an eco-friendly alternative to the usual motorcycle-driven services.
eSakay, Inc., a subsidiary of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), has partnered with tech-logistics firm Mober to provide sustainable delivery services in the Philippines.
Mober, which provides same-day delivery services to its clients, will start utilizing a fleet of electric cargo vans provided by eSakay, an end-to-end green mobility solutions provider and enabler.
These vans are zero-emission commercial vehicles able to transport parcels weighing up to 3,000 kilograms. Each vehicle has a rated range of about 220 kilometers on a single charge, a top speed of 90 kilometers per hour and can utilize a DC fast charger that can bring up the unit’s state-of-charge to 80% in just one hour.
In short, that means every delivery with the new sustainable cargo vans will be just as timely and reliable as other options.
The partnership between eSakay and Mober is part of both companies’ commitment to support the country’s transition to cleaner energy, and to promote green and sustainable transport operations.
“We are delighted to have Mober as our strategic partner in our continuing drive to propagate electric vehicles in the country. Being an innovator in their field, this conveys a strong message and a clear example that a positive impact on climate change can be realized in our local logistics industry,” says eSakay COO Jonathan G. Aguirre.
Meralco Chief Sustainability Officer and eSakay President and CEO Raymond B. Ravelo adds: “eSakay’s mission of enabling more and more Filipinos to enjoy the benefits of green mobility is indeed in line with Meralco’s sustainability agenda. Together with partners such as Mober, we will continue to drive key initiatives in vehicle electrification and charging infrastructure enablement, as part of our pledge to protect and preserve our planet, and to power good lives for all.”
Mober Founder Dennis Ng shares how adding the e-vehicles to their fleet is part of the company’s long-term vision: “We want to set an example in the Philippine logistics industry and do our part in reducing our carbon emissions. Our primary goal has always been to provide efficient service. Having a fleet of electric vans means that we can continue to be efficient, while reducing our carbon footprint.”
Mober has been a trailblazer in the logistics industry since 2016. The company was originally set up as an on-demand delivery app, designed to help solve the logistics challenges of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Today, they’ve grown to offer a wider assortment of transport services, from “lipat bahay” to pet shuttles.
eSakay, on the other hand, is the green mobility arm of Meralco. The company provides end-to-end EV and charging infrastructure solutions for institutional customers and the riding public. It is committed to enabling and supporting the country’s transition towards a cleaner and a more sustainable transport system.
Together, the companies are creating a greener solution for our post-COVID 19 needs. While delivery services are the best way to make sure we stay at home and safe from the virus, we need to be more aware about how they grow our carbon footprint.
With the new electric cargo vans from eSakay and Mober, we can enjoy emission-free deliveries for our business and other needs.
