Epson, together with Drones PH, Dronesure, and Globe Live, hopes to give you a new perspective with the latest iteration of its Moverio smart glasses. The Japanese tech company is hosting until tomorrow, April 1st its “A New Way of Seeing the World” event at the Amphitheater in Bonifacio High Street, BGC. The main star of the event is the new Moverio BT-300, which Epson touts as its lightest smart glasses. It offers augmented reality and virtual reality experiences for business and personal use.

The Moverio BT-300 makes use of Epson’s technologies and expertise. There are micro projectors on each side of the OLED glasses so it can project overlays of digital content directly into your field of view. Its applications extend to work in industries like warehouse/logistics, field service, manufacturing, healthcare, travel and hospitality, retail, etc. It can be used for training, remote field service support for complex repair assistance and troubleshooting, managing of inventory and warehousing, guided museum tours, etc.

It comes with intelligent tracking sensors that detect dimensions and spatial positioning of objects in relation to each other. And since it’s lightweight, continuous use won’t be too much of an issue. It can even take HD quality video and pictures hands-free with the built-in 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It runs on a quad-core Intel Atom processor and Android 5.1. The smart glasses promise a six-hour battery life.

To improve the functionality of the glasses, Epson is working with businesses and independent software vendors. One of the latest partners is DJI to make apps for the Moverio smart glasses that will enhance safety, productivity, and piloting experience for hobbyists and professionals alike. The company is showing this off at the event by letting guests fly the Phantom 4, Inspire 3, and Spreading Wings S1000+ with Moverio in the Drone Zone, take part in the drone race, as well as watch shows and movies on using the glasses, play games, and see its practical applications. There will even be talks by speakers from drones, video, and photography industries to enlighten guests who visit the event venue. The event is open until 10 p.m. tonight and will resume tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Epson is selling the Moverio BT-300 for P43,000 (inclusive of VAT) and is available through select resellers like Drones PH and 3-hub.com.
