As someone who listens to music practically 24/7– whether walking the dogs, working out, grabbing coffee, going out for errands or simply lounging at home –having audio devices that can not only support my active lifestyle but are also of quality is truly essential to me.
Fortunately, I was given the opportunity to test out realme’s latest wireless earbuds, the realme Buds T100, and test out its capabilities.
Design:
realme incorporated elements of smartphone manufacturing in terms of the Buds T100’s composition, which is attributed to its compact charging case structure, VDI spark finish and ultra-smooth A2 polishing. Sleekly designed in a two-tone Hit Color, the device currently comes in 2 colors, Pop White and Punk Black, with another 2 colors upcoming, Rock Red and Jazz Blue. The Punk Black iteration, which I was able to get my hands on, is blacked out all over, with realme’s logo stamped in front. The inside of the casing is painted in realme yellow, where you’ll find both buds, similarly in all black.
Being only 4g light and being relatively small, the Buds T100 is well-designed to be a good companion for my active, on-the-go lifestyle. Firstly, the buds themselves are feather-like, ultimately allowing you to continue listening comfortably, even after extensive usage. When at the gym working out, for example, the buds still fit nice and snug even with various movements and sweat. Secondly, the case is cutely shaped to make it extremely portable, whether kept in your pocket, bag or even held in your hands.
The soft and flexible high-polymer buds, structured with titanium-plated composite dome diaphragms, block out outside noise and are comfortable to wear. Included in the box are 3 different bud sizes to choose from, as well.
Audio:
In order to take every single frequency to the next level, realme has equipped the Buds T100 with 10mm dynamic bass drivers and the aforementioned PEEK+TPU titanium-plated dome diaphragms. These work in tandem to create different layers that give a rich and powerful bass, as well as crystal-clear middle and high frequencies. Moreover, if you’re the type of person who likes to give their music a bit of oomph (like myself), the Volume Enhancer feature ramps up its output from 97dB to 102dB.
I was definitely pleasantly surprised with the audio quality of the Buds T100, as its crisp and detailed sound delivered a vibrant output. Even at higher volume levels, the device was impressively able to retain the same quality, which is a big plus personally as someone who likes to blast his music. The same goes for other types of content, such as streaming on Netflix, watching YouTube or going through Instagram reels.
During calls, on the other hand, the audio quality was likewise good, though I felt its volume to be weak, leading me to turn it up 2 to 3 notches when on the phone.
Features:
The Buds T100 comes with multiple features to make usage more convenient and practical. Its smart touch controls are quite responsive with the simple tap of a finger; double tap the bud to play/pause track, triple tap to skip track and long press to adjust volume (right bud for volume up; left bud for volume down).
The Buds T100 are also realme Link App compatible, where further modifications can be made, such as Bass Boost+, equalizer, Volume Enhancer, and various other modes. Unfortunately for me (and many others), the realme Link App on Apple devices does not support the Buds T100.
Looking for a more seamless audio-video sync? Switch to Gaming Mode, which lowers latency to 88ms for satisfyingly synced audio, thanks to its Bluetooth 5.3 Connection. This means you can enjoy a better audio-video experience, whether playing games, scrolling through TikTok or watching videos.
Being IPX5 Water Resistant, you wouldn’t have to worry if sweat or minimal amounts of liquid come in contact with it, which is another testament to its sturdiness and portability.
For clearer conversations, realme has placed AI ENC Noise Cancellation for calls, muting background noise and singling out your voice.
Lastly, Google Fast Pair facilitates swift and seamless connectivity. Especially as someone who might switch from listening on his phone, to listening on his laptop, then back to listening on the phone, being able to quickly switch connections between devices makes everything much more simple and hassle-free.
Battery:
The one aspect I’d have to say that impressed me most would be its battery. With a 40mAh capacity for the buds and 400mAh for the case, the Buds T100 can last a whopping 28 hours of playback with the case, and 6 hours without it, which is still mighty impressive.
This meant that even after heavy and extensive usage, I was still able to enjoy the Buds T100 without worries of low battery levels. As previously mentioned, I like to listen to music practically 24/7, so owning earbuds that can keep up with my usage is definitely a must. Quite surprisingly, I only needed to recharge my device after almost a week of use, at around an average of 3 to 4 hours of usage daily.
Not only is its battery capacity more than sufficient, but its charging capabilities are likewise noteworthy. A mere 10 minute charge equates to 120 minutes of playback, which means you get to enjoy more and worry less.
Verdict:
Especially with the very enticing price tag of just P1,299, the Buds T100 makes for an excellent, all-around wireless earbuds, as realme has equipped it with crisp audio, useful features and a large battery in a sleek design.
