ENEOS Philippines Corporation (ENEPH), the local office of ENEOS Corporation, Japan’s No. 1 oil company, has signed on to become the title sponsor of this year’s Super Sprint series organized by GMET Events. The Super Sprint series is a timed competition where drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course. The design of the track is geared toward beginner to intermediate drivers and is characterized by a quick but challenging layout that emphasizes safe but active competition.
ENEOS has long been an active participant of motorsport competitions all around the world and is an integral part of many successful racing teams. Its support for the 2024 ENEOS Super Sprint series is testament to its commitment to the Philippines, which is a major growth market for its lubricants business.
“We are thrilled at the opportunity to promote the ENEOS brand and technology through this very established and well-organized event and we take seriously our role in helping develop the local motorsport industry,” said Kazumasa Imai, President of ENEPH. “Our passion for racing pushes us to develop breakthrough products that provide maximum power and exceptional protection for all motor vehicles.”
Two such products are the ENEOS PRO-RACING SN/CF 5W 40, which is a 100% Synthetic motor oil expertly engineered with technology proven under the most extreme racing conditions. It is developed for drivers who demand the ultimate in engine power and performance while delivering maximum protection and efficiency. Next is the ENEOS SN/CF 5W-30, a semi-Synthetic motor oil that assures rapid and stable lubrication as well as high thermal stability under heavy-duty conditions in a broad temperature range. It covers all automobile engines and ensures longer drain interval, cleaner combustion, enhanced fuel economy, lower emission levels compared to conventional mineral based oil.
The first round of the 2024 ENEOS Super Sprint was off to a great start with a stellar field of 137 participants, which included a dedicated ladies class for the first time in Super Sprint history. Beginners, novices and experts alike trooped to Parklinks, Quezon City to test their skill and their machine against the short but challenging track. The road leading up to the starting line showcased an impressive collection of cars – from Japanese to European makes, from new to old, and from stock to super modified – as they waited for their chance at the track.
Top honors went to Prepped Class driver Iñigo Anton on a Mazda MX-5 RF who registered the fastest time of 51.562 seconds. Other notables are Chad Lazaro from the Intermediate Class clocking in at 56.671 seconds in his BMW 3-series, Irwin Eugene Viray from the Amateur Class submitting a time of 57.645seconds aboard a souped-up Toyota RAV4, and Street Class driver Jan Sulit on his Toyota Wigo with a time of 59.374 seconds. The fastest female on four wheels is Christine Torres onboard her Honda hatchback with a time of 62.342 seconds. Apart from the coveted champion trophy, the winners of each category received most sought-after merchandise from ENEPH.
“Congratulations to all the winners and to all the participants as well. Hats off to GMET Events for a very successful hosting and I believe we achieved our mutual objective of promoting safety not just in motorsports but in everyday driving situations. We look forward to seeing more participants and more spectators in the coming rounds,” added Kazumasa Imai.
