Eastern Communications, a premier Philippine telecommunications company, has earned the renewal of its International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 certification, reflecting its continued efforts to maintain industry-standard management practices, transparent processes, and customer-driven delivery systems. It also received the 27001 certification, which is the world’s best-known standard for information security management systems (ISMS).
For many years, Eastern Communications has been at the forefront of providing an array of exceptional telecommunication services and solutions among Philippine businesses. Eastern became the first local telecommunications company to receive ISO 9001 back in 2010.
The awarding of the second ISO certification comes before Eastern Communications reaches its 145th-year anniversary, upholding its mission to aid businesses in digital transformation.
The ISO 9001 recertification is a series of connected ongoing audits and reviews to ensure that an organization and its management system are compliant with the relevant international standards.
International Standards for Security Management Systems
As a cybersecurity solutions provider, Eastern Communications enforces robust security management systems that are adherent to international standards and the principles outlined in the ISO. These measures demonstrate the telco’s highest standards in safeguarding its data center and IT operations systems.
According to its Internal Audit and Risk Management Head, Celso Bagnes, Eastern Communications has been servicing clients with the highest quality standards and underwent a series of audits and checks to achieve these certifications.
“It is a privilege to receive once more the ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management System and the new ISO 27001 certification for Information Security Management System, demonstrating Eastern’s adherence to international standards in conducting its business and dealings with customers, suppliers, partners, and external parties. We recognize that to deliver a high standard of customer service, we need streamlined, well-managed, and secure processes,” he added.
“Attaining this certification instills further confidence in our stakeholders. Rest assured, we will continuously and consistently review and improve our security systems to maintain information security in this highly digital age,” said Eastern Communications Information Security Management Head Domingo Gonzales.
More than ever, the certification cemented Eastern Communications’ vision for a stronger tomorrow among businesses. The telco aims to help Filipinos thrive through world-class technologies and connectivity. Earlier this year, Eastern Communications launched its campaign “Evolve Every Day” as a call to action for its partners to future-proof its operations.
