In a move to help minimize further consumer hardships in this challenging pandemic, Chery Auto Philippines has elected to absorb the price increases from the newly implemented safeguard tariff.
“We previously announced price increases in compliance with the Department of Trade and Industry’s Department Administrative Order (DAO) imposing a provisional safeguard tariff on certain imported cars and light commercial vehicles, but we have decided to absorb the tariff instead of passing it on to the consumer with higher prices,” said Rommel Sytin, Chery Auto Philippines President.
Chery Auto Philippines will maintain the old prices for its full Tiggo model range throughout the whole month of March.
The DTI imposed a provisional safeguard measure on cars and LCVs after it found higher vehicle imports are causing injury to the local automotive manufacturing industry in its evaluation of a petition filed by the Philippine Metalworkers’ Alliance. Under the Safeguard Measures Act, the government can impose safeguard measures in the form of tariffs to provide relief to the local industry when there is serious threat or injury from increased imports of like products.
The Chery Tiggo 2, Tiggo 5x, Tiggo 7, and Tiggo 8 will retain their pre-Safeguard Tariff prices (as follows):
Chery Auto PH remains committed to delivering safe, secure, and value-packed mobility to the public while helping the country achieve its economic goals in these trying times.
In January, Chery vehicle sales underscored growing consumer confidence in its feature-packed, high-value products by exceeding its January sales targets. The stylish all-new Tiggo 7 was introduced just last January 27, but quickly sold out its initial batch within 30 days from launch. The number of deposits and pre-orders for the upcoming new shipment, expected to arrive this March, is fast growing.
Chery Auto Philippines boasts of its industry-leading warranty and PMS programs: a 10-year/1 million-km engine warranty, a 5-year general warranty, and a FREE full preventive maintenance service (PMS) for 3 years.
Other factors that contributed to the strong sales are easy-on-the-budget auto loan packages given support by Chery’s bank partners, the availability of Chery’s EC Mobile Home Service, and the fast-growing nationwide network of Chery dealers.
Starting the Chery PH lineup is the entry-level yet feature-rich Tiggo 2 subcompact crossover, which is now available in two-tone colors with black roof and pillars. The Tiggo 2 is powered by a Euro 5 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve VVT engine and comes in manual and automatic variants.
Slightly larger is the Tiggo 5x subcompact crossover which shares the Tiggo 2’s 1.5L engine and also comes with a manual or automatic.
One size bigger is the all-new compact Tiggo 7 Pro, powered by a turbocharged 1.5L engine boasting 145hp and 210Nm of torque and a completely new 9-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Surprising new car buyers with its premium build quality and luxury car features is the midsize 7-seater Tiggo 8. It also has a turbocharged 1.5L engine and automatic transmission. The Tiggo 8 is unique with its Chery Smartwatch Key that functions like a fitness tracker but also lets you start the engine and aircon or open the windows or tailgate, among many other functions.
Another useful tool in this time of social distancing is the Chery Auto PH App, which works with both Apple and Android phones. The Chery Auto PH app functions as a digital showroom where customers can check out Chery’s vehicle models and their specs, see the list of all Chery dealerships nationwide, request and schedule a test drive, book an appointment for car maintenance and repair, order spare parts, inquire about specific Chery models, and request for a quotation for the Chery model they are interested in.
