CESpotlight 2016: All about the letter ‘K’ for LG

It’s that time of the year again. CES season is upon us where we get to see the latest and greatest in the consumer electronic space (which we hope to see in the market within the year). That said, LG has announced its latest Ultra High Definition (UHD) TV family as well as a new family of mid-range Android smartphones.

LG 4K ‘Super UHD’ TV
Announced at CES 2016, LG’s latest family of TVs, dubbed “Super UHD,” will feature LG’s most advanced LCD/LED picture technology to provide the best picture quality. These include the expanded color capabilities, advanced picture and sound quality including High Dynamic Range (HDR). All of these are in LG’s Flat ULTRA Slim design.

Headlining the family are the UH9500 (ranging in size from 55- to 86-inch class screen sizes), the UH8500 (ranging in size from 55- to 75-inch class screen sizes), and the UH7700 (ranging in size from 49- to 65-inch class screen sizes). These boasts LG’s advanced IPS display which includes True Black and Contrast Maximizer that deliver more depth and contrast by separating objects from the background.

LG’s flasgship, the UH9500 comes with an impressive 6.6mm thin display along with speakers designed in tandem with Harmon-Kardon.

LG’s Super UHD series have been designated as “HDR Plus” which allows them to display 4K HDR content. As with other top-of-the-line TVs from LG, the Super UHD series also features the latest webOS Smart TV with webOS 3.0.

Some models of the LG Super UHD TVs, including the UH9500, UH8500, and the UH7700 will be available in the US in Spring. Availability in other countries and price have been announced.

LG K-Series Smartphones
On the smartphone front, LG announced its K-Series Android smartphones; headlined by the K10 and the K7. The K-Series smartphones boasts advanced camera technology and LG’s UX software design. These are paired with a curved case design that, according to the Korean company, was inspired by nature. Speaking of the case, the LG’s new 2.5D Arc Glass complements the glossy pebble design for a seamless and smooth style since the buttons are placed at the back similar to the G-Series phones.

Both the K10 and the K7 shine when it comes to taking photographs, including selfies! Both devices feature a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera as well as Flash for Selfie on the front. The K-Series smartphones also feature LG’s Gesture Shot and Gesture Interval Shot. Gesture Shot allows you to take a shot by raising an open hand and closing it. Double closing the hand enables Gesture Interval Shot which allows will take four consecutive shots.

Currently, LG hasn’t announced prices and availability of the LG K10 and K7 smartphones.
