This state-of-the-art motor is paired with a 6-speed double-clutch transmission (DCT) which combines the performance, control, and fuel economy of a manual with the clutch pedal-less convenience and comfort of an automatic.
Sam, Phoem and Aubrey were also unanimous in their praise of the Tiggo 8’s on-road performance. They liked its stable handling, comfortable ride, high ground clearance for the occasional forays on rough roads, and the confidence-inspiring braking from the four-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.
They also liked the Tiggo 8’s exclusive features. “The Chery Tiggo 8 is a premium 7-seater SUV that comes with a Smartwatch Key that’s definitely useful for people who always forget their keys—myself included—and apart from that, it’s like an assistant around your wrist. With just a couple of taps, it controls the locks, windows, trunk, and even the airconditioning system,” Phoem said about the car on her Instagram post.
The Smartwatch Key is a sleek fitness band that controls various functions of the car remotely and boasts heart rate monitoring among other fitness tracker functionalities.
“The other feature of the Tiggo 8 that I really liked is the panoramic sunroof because it gives me that extra sunlight and I love to see the view. Its 10-inch monitor helps me make use of the 360 panoramic view camera, which makes driving and parking around the city so much easier,” Phoem added.
The Tiggo 8 has one of the industry’s biggest 10-inch Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) LED touchscreen Bluetooth infotainment systems, a 7-inch fully digital instrument panel, and touchscreen controls for the airconditioning system. It also uses Bosch’s new-generation ESP9.3 stability system, aerial-view 360-degree super-definition rear-view camera, multiple USB ports, wireless mobile phone charging, and other leading intelligent systems.
Noted plantita Aubrey Miles raved about the interior space (aside from the Smartwatch Key). “My other favorite thing about the car is its very spacious truck capacity; all of my new plants fit with no problem—you guys know how important that is for me,” Aubrey said on her own Instagram post.
Sam YG, meanwhile, praised the interior and the suspension. “I personally love the luxurious interior and easy-to-use media panel! The suspension, space, stability, and style are nothing short of impressive and are perfect for a daily drive. It’s definitely a bang for your buck!” he raved on IG.
Chery Auto Philippines currently markets four crossover SUV models: the subcompact Tiggo 2 and Tiggo 5X, the compact Tiggo 7, and the midsize 7-seater Tiggo 8. All have 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve EFI VVT Euro 5-compliant engines (turbocharged for the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8) and have automatic transmissions on all models (manual transmissions available on the Tiggo 2 and Tiggo 5X). These crossovers boast ground clearances as high 210mm and water-wading depths of as much as 600mm, which are even higher than several of its crossover competition.
Prices range from P695,000 for the Tiggo 2 to P1,280,000 for the Tiggo 8, with low down payment and low monthly promos available.
All Tiggo models are made in Chery’s world-class state-of-the-art fully robotized plants in Wuhu, China. All have contemporary styling and modern comfort, convenience and safety features, while the higher end models boast luxury car features like foot sensor-activated power tailgates, auto-on LED headlamps, LED taillamps, cruise control, Smart Key Entry System, 6-way power-adjustable seats, LCD instrument panel, panoramic sunroof, leather seats, 18” alloy wheels, and much more.
For safety, Chery automobiles feature six airbags, front and rear radar-based driving aids, and a full suite of electronic driver-assist systems including Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control (even on the entry-level Tiggo 2).
