Madame Web is unlike any other Marvel movie,” says Johnson. The film, the first superhero movie with a female lead in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, tells the standalone origin story of Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future… and realizes she can use that insight to change it. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women bound for powerful destinies… if they can all survive a deadly present.

“It’s more of a suspenseful thriller, which is unique from anything you’ve seen in a superhero movie,” says Sydney Sweeney, who plays Julia Cornwall.

Isabela Merced, who portrays Anya Corazón, adds “It’s got psychologically mind-bending scenarios that you’re just going to be stumped on.”

“It’s genuinely refreshing to see a superhero movie that’s really different,” shares Celeste O’Connor, who plays Mattie Franklin.
