Casio opens PH-first G-Factory Premium Store in Greenbelt

Wristwatches are ubiquitous pieces of our everyday apparel. We notice them only when they’re woefully missing. We don’t even notice them when we’re checking the time. How many times have we resorted to our smartphones when there’s a watch readily available on our wrists? Yet they will never go away. The invention of smartwatches has increased the wristwatch’s survivability into the foreseeable future. Even without the sudden influx of smart technology, the legacy of traditional analog and digital watches is already guaranteed.

Certain watch brands have already reach iconic status. There’s the Rolex, the Patek Philippe, and the Casio? Wait, Casio? The Japanese electronics brand has brought us one of the most recognizable watch faces in the world: the G-Shock. This digital watch line is known for its durability to hard shocks and vibrations. Initially catered to active individuals, the G-Shock has also reached the wrists of the everyday employee. Unfortunately, this popularity eclipsed the rest of Casio’s watch lineup, especially those of the premium nature. This explains Casio’s drive for rapid store expansion. (If you average out the numbers, Casio practically opened a new store every day over the last year.) This also explains why Casio chose the Philippines as the second G-Factory Premium Store location in the world.

At the end of September, Casio launched this new premium concept store located in Greenbelt 5, Makati. The store offers consumers a first-hand shopping experience of its premium G-Shock and Oceanus watches. This is only the second store of its kind in the world (the first was in Singapore) and the first in the Philippines. Simultaneously, Casio released a couple of new watches which showcases its status at the forefront of watch technology, the G-Shock MRG-G1000 and the Oceanus OCW-G1000. For the first time, Filipinos will be able to get a glimpse of Casio watches launched at this year’s Baselworld, the world’s pinnacle event for watches and jewelry.

The G-Shock MRG-G1000, once again, shows Casio’s mettle in the tough watch segment as it is designed with the iconic Triple 10 concept. It uses GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology. This allows the watch to tap into atomic clock radio signals and GPS satellites to determine the exact time anywhere. A dual dial time display can be viewed in parallel to the main face, making this tough watch a perfect companion for jetsetters. A testament to Japanese craftsmanship, the MRG-G1000 features a durable pure titanium case, diamond-like coating, and lustrous Sallaz polishing.

The Oceanus OCW-G1000 line also features this revolutionary Global Time Sync technology with a dual dial time display. The watch face boasts of dual-curved sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating on both sides for maximum visibility. It features a shade of blue that Casio has purportedly spent two years perfecting. Its lustrous finish is due to the Sallaz polishing.
