Gift of Tree Program infuses sustainability into the customer ownership experience
BYD Cars Philippines has become the latest automotive brand to join the ACMobility ACRE Movement, with the partnership signing between Ayala Land Incorporated and BYD Cars Philippines executives. Through the ACRE Movement’s Gift of Tree program, ALI’s carbon forest partners will plant and nurture one tree for every BYD vehicle sold starting this July.
“BYD continuously aims to reinforce its sustainability brand pillar via meaningful community endeavors that engage with its customers,” shares Toti Zara, Head of Automotive Retail Distribution of ACMobility.
“At the heart of BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility is changing the way you move by driving sustainability and embracing social responsibility. ACMobility’s distributorship of BYD allows it to enjoy the unique advantages of Ayala Corporation’s sustainability efforts. Through this partnership with Ayala Land, we are also introducing to our customers the value of sustainability that validates their decision to purchase a BYD,” adds Zara.
The ACMobility ACRE Movement aims to give back to the environment and contribute to the restoration of the carbon forests of Ayala Land Inc. BYD Cars Philippines’ growing sales numbers, along with those of other ACMobility automotive brands that will join in the near future, will further contribute to the tree-planting initiative.
“As the country’s leading real estate developer, Ayala Land is committed to creating sustainable communities where people can thrive,” says Robert S. Lao, Chief Sustainability Officer of Ayala Land. Partnering with ACMobility and BYD aligns with our own vision of eco-efficiency and sustainability. We have dedicated 784 hectares across seven sites from our land bank as carbon forests. These sites absorb carbon dioxide and will help remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. BYD, with its zero-tailpipe emission lineup of electric vehicles, matches our own goals, and we are proud to be their partner in driving sustainable mobility,” adds Lao.
The push for global no.1
BYD is a global leader in new energy vehicles (NEVs) and is set to become the third-largest automotive brand in the world in 2024, based on market capitalization. The electric vehicle maker has also been a top player in its home market, consistently at the number one spot for nine consecutive years.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, BYD reached the top spot in the global EV market. In 2023 alone, BYD has produced over 3 million vehicles, with 1.6 million being battery-only passenger cars and the remaining 1.4 million being extended-range EVs. These production numbers bring BYD much closer to reaching its goal of being Global No.1 and being the top electric vehicle brand in the Philippines.
