SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation just launched the first-ever BMW X2 at the BMW Joyfest 2018. With a design oozing individuality from every pore and a sporty suspension setup, the BMW X2 pushes back boundaries, puts a firework under old habits and brings previously uncharted levels of driving pleasure to this vehicle segment.

A distinctive character
Even next to its bigger brothers, the BMW X4 and X6, the BMW X2 makes a wholly distinctive impression. Furthermore, the M Sport X model is available for the first time and allows owners to reflect their unique character even more.
It cuts a sublime figure from any angle. Its stance on the road recalls a finely-tuned athlete—and essentially combines the fast-moving body language and low-slung proportions of a coupé with the robust construction of a BMW X model.
Signature details include wheel arches with a squared-off look to match the standard 19-inch M Light Alloy wheels, striking exhaust tailpipes, and accentuated side skirts, not to mention an elegant roofline, slick lines, and slim window graphic.
Three design features, in particular, catch the eye. The BMW X2 turns BMW’s familiar trapezoidal kidney grille form on its head, and it now broadens as it heads south; this is the first time a modern BMW has gone about things this way. In addition, the BMW roundel on the C-pillars references a much loved detail of classical BMW coupes, such as the 2000 CS and 3.0 CSL, highlighting the sporting DNA of the BMW X2. The BMW X2 also comes in seven stunning exterior paint shades including two new colors, namely Misano Blue and Galvanic Gold.
Attitude comes from within
The interior of the BMW X2 blends signature BMW elements, such as a pronounced driver focus and dynamic lines, with the understated ruggedness of a BMW X model. The high-class quality of the BMW X2 and its impressive level of equipment are both instantly apparent.
Drivers can expect to find top quality finishes included as standard. The interior of the M Sport X model is trimmed in an enticing Micro Hexagon fabric/Alcantara Anthracite combination with contrast stitching. The instrument cluster and large displays bring added flourishes to the interior and act as visual pointers to BMW’s digital expertise. Finally, the standard lighting package allows drivers to set a stylish lighting mood for the interior of their BMW X2 by choosing from the colors Orange, Lilac, Mint, Bronze, Blue and White.
The BMW X2 also offers customers cutting-edge technologies when it comes to driver assistance systems. For example, the Parking Assistant, which is designed to make life easier for the BMW X2 driver, automatically identifying suitable parking spaces and, if desired, taking over steering duties for the parking manoeuvre. The standard Comfort Access System, which remotely senses the unique BMW key, wherever the driver happens to be carrying it—in the jacket pocket, handbag, or briefcase—unlocks the vehicle with a simple touch on the door handle.
The BMW X2 deftly combines all of these features with a generous helping of everyday practicality. The boot has a capacity of 470 litres, meaning it can effortlessly handle leisure activities, from shopping sprees to a mountain-bike tour. This high level of functionality manifests itself in the passenger compartment too, such as a door design featuring large pockets and stowage bins lower down.

The Sports Activity Coupe cuts a dashing figure on every journey, thanks to its peerless BMW TwinPower Turbo diesel engine and sophisticated powertrain that produces an output of 190hp and a maximum torque of 400Nm. These components team up with the car’s refined chassis to endow it with class-beating handling qualities, exceptional agility, and superb feedback, thereby allowing the BMW X2 to generate levels of driving pleasure unprecedented in this segment.
