If the ASUS Zenfone 4 seems to ring bells, well, it isn’t the first time the Taiwanese company released smartphones under that name. But this is an entirely different line. This time they’re following chronological order so we’re just getting the next iteration following the Zenfone 3 devices. And we’re getting a whole bunch of them (some with variations within the specific). Let’s take a quick look at the new devices.
ASUS Zenfone 4 + 4 Pro
While carrying the name of the line, the Zenfone 4 is actually the mid-range option. With prices starting at US$399 (around P20,500), this variant comes in two flavors: one is running Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 while the other runs on Snapdragon 630. It’ll feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display, up to 6GB of RAM, up to 64GB of storage, and a 3,300mAh battery. With smartphone photography at the forefront of what ASUS has been focusing on lately, we’re seeing a dual-camera setup on the Zenfone 4. It has a main 12-megapixel shooter with a secondary 8-megapixel sensor for wide-angle photography. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel shooter.
The Zenfone 4 Pro is the flagship model of the line and packs in a Snapdragon 835 chip, 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, dual camera setup at the back with 12-megapixel sensor + 16-megapixel sensor with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. While it also has up to 6GB of RAM, storage gets a boost at up to 128GB, and battery goes up to 3,600mAh. The Pro goes for $599 (around P30,700).
ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie + Selfie Pro
For those who love taking selfies, ASUS brings back its Selfie devices and unveils two versions of it. The Zenfone 4 Selfie brings the dual camera setup to the front of the device. Its main front-facing camera has 20-megapixel sensor and that’s supplemented by an 8-megapixel secondary lens that will let you take wide 120-degree photos to fit more people (or background) into a shot. The rear camera isn’t a slouch either with its 16-megapixel sensor. Of course, we can’t say how could the camera will be until we put that into actual use.
For the Zenfone 4 Selfie Pro, it ups your selfie-taking game by introducing DuoPixel camera technology to the main front camera. What this does is combine two 12-megapixel images to make a higher-resolution 24-megapixel photo. The secondary 5-megapixel wide-angle lens will also let you take wider selfies or group shots.
The Selfie runs on a Snapdragon 430 processor, while the Selfie Pro runs on a Snapdragon 625 chip. Both devices though run on 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and 3,000mAh battery. The Selfie is $100 cheaper than the Selfie Pro at $279 (around P14,300). The Selfie Pro, obviously, goes for $379 (around P19,500).
ASUS Zenfone 4 Max
Just like its predecessor, the Zenfone 4 Max prioritizes long battery life. There seems to be three versions of the Max. One is a 5.2-inch version that runs on Snapdragon 425 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and 4,100mAh battery. It sports a dual rear camera setup with 13-megapixel main rear shooter and 5-megapixel secondary camera as well as an 8-megapixel front camera.
Another is a 5.5-inch Full HD version running on Snapdragon 430, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. It’ll have twin 13-megapixel rear shooters. One more 5.5-inch model with HD screen will also be launched. It’ll run on Snapdragon 430, too, but with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB internal storage. It’s camera setup for the rear is a 13-megapixel main with 5-megapixel secondary camera. Both of these models sport a hefty 5,000mAh battery.
