One of the big announcements at ASUS’s ZenBook event at Computex 2018 is a new premium 13.3-inch ultraportable laptop for its ZenBook line.
The ZenBook S UX391 is a 12.9mm-thin, 1kg-light laptop with a near A4-sized metal unibody with MIL-STD-410G military-grade toughness. This sturdy build is wrapped in two eye-catching colors: Deep Dive Blue or Burgundy Red. Both come with Rose Gold diamond-cut details and ASUS’s signature spun metal finish. According to ASUS, the inspiration for Deep Dive Blue is “the magical moment at dawn when the golden rays of the sun first illuminate the ink-blue sky,” while the eye-catching Burgundy Red is inspired by “the sky that turned deep red at sunset.”
ASUS considers comfort with this new laptop by introducing a new ErgoLift hinge design. When you open the laptop, it gives the keyboard a 5.5-degree tilt, which the company says is the optimum angle for typing. Other benefits of this new ErgoLift design in that it improves cooling airflow and audio as well. This position promises to get the best out of the Harman Kardon audio system when it comes to clearer sound and better bass response.
The ZenBook S UX391 gets as much screen as it can with up to 4K UHD NanoEdge display with bezel width that has shrunk to 5.9mm and offers 85 percent screen-to-body ratio. It’s powered by 8th-gen Intel Core processors, up to 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD, up to 16GB of fast 2133MHz LPDDR3 RAM, up to 13.5hrs battery life, and has Thunderbolt 3 connectivity support for two of the three USB-C ports. And yes, it supports Amazon Alexa, too.
Battery life is promised at up to 13.5 hours. It has fast-charge technology as well that recharges a flat battery to 60 percent in as little as 49 minutes. ASUS plans to release the laptop this month. Here’s a quick rundown of the specs and prices:
