ASUS has dubbed its ZenFone Max line as the “Battery King” and it certainly was that. It was a great smartphone for those who needed a device that can last an entire work day without it giving up on its users. The company delivered on that promise, but they also wanted the ZenFone Max line to be more. And that’s what they set out to do with the ZenFone Max M2 Pro.
The brand wanted to bring some of its best features into an affordable, compelling package. The ZenFone Max M2 Pro packs in a sizeable 5,000mAh battery but keeps the phone light and pocketable. Even with a 6.3-inch display, it still feels manageable in my average, woman-sized hands. Whether you like it or not, you get a notched display here. It features a 19:9 aspect ratio and a 2,280 x 1,080 resolution. In terms of durability, though, it gets the Gorilla Glass 6 protection of the ROG Phone.
The acrylic finish of the phone gives it a shiny, slightly fingerprint-y look but still gives a nice feel in the hand. We need more time with it to tell if it’s going to be as slippery device. It’ll come in two classy colors: Midnight Blue and Cosmic Titanium. Midnight Blue is coming to the Philippines but there isn’t any word yet if we’re getting the Titanium version. It’s a good looking phone, though.
It inherits the dual rear camera setup of the ZenFone 5 with 12-megapixel main shooter with PDAF and f/1.8 aperture paired with a 5-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. You get a single 13-megapixel camera in front.
The ZenFone Max M2 Pro runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. Both good things, if you ask us. ASUS Philippines is bringing in two variants: 4GB or 6GB RAM. Both come with 64GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB via a dedicated microSD slot. This phone is also dual SIM for those who carry two numbers.
This new phone will be coming to the market starting December 15. The 6GB model retails for P14,995. The 4GB model will be a Shopee and Lazada exclusive and will retail for P12,995.
