ASUS redefines gaming

Last week, ASUS revealed their lineup of ROG laptops. Perfect for casual users and gamers alike, these hard-hitting machines are made to perform but at the same time remain stylish, lightweight, and portable. Featuring NVIDIA’s newest graphics card, the Ryzen 7, we got a first-hand look at these (and even got to sneak in a little game time on them). Now the wait is over, we’re here to tell you all about them.

A little refresher

Bringing back revamped models of their TUF GAMING line (FX505DD, FX505DT, FX505DU, and FX705DU), all the FX models come with an AMD Ryzen 7 processor and the latest generation NVIDIA GPUs. This ensures smooth, lag-free gaming. Additionally, ASUS has equipped the FX models with anti-dust and HyperCool technology to stabilize performance, especially during marathon-length uses.

If smartphones now are going bezel-less, these laptops come with amazingly slim bezels, allowing for an immersive gaming and entertainment experience. These are equipped with immersive DTS Headphone:X with a 7.1-channel surround sound feature. Always a crowd pleaser, the RGB-backlit keyboards are customized for gamers—specifically highlighting the WASD keys. The colors are also customizable, so users can have fun and personalize their keyboards. Finally, like any good device should be, they are built to last, with ASUS promising “military-grade toughness” that can weather through sudden bumps and jolts, allowing you to rest easy when in transit.

The TUF line will be available very soon and all models come with a free TUF gaming backpack upon purchase.

Strix line

ASUS also brought back their ROG Strix line, with the ROG Strix Scar III and the Hero III G531/G731 coming with the new Intel 9th-generation processor with GTX graphics, a step up from the previous models’ Intel Core i7 processor.

For esports enthusiasts, the refreshed models come with either a 15-inch 240Hz/3ms or 17-inch 144Hz/3ms display. To reduce overheating, an asymmetric cut-out lid and a 3D flow zone is incorporated into the design to help increase airflow. They are also equipped with a plugged-in Keystone feature, which gives you immersive game-on effects such as light and audio effects; game profile management, where you can set up a profile via ArmouryCrate 2.0; and utilize Shadowdrive, which allows users to enable an encrypted partition for personal file storage.

The ROG Strix Scar III and Hero III G531/G731 are available in Gunmetal Grey or Midnight Black.

Rounding up the refreshed models is the Zephyrus S GX531/GX701. It is also equipped with the Intel 9th-generation processor, a 15-inch SDR 240Hz/3ms response display (for the GX531 only), 17-inch HDR 144Hz/3ms display (for both the GX701 and GX531).

The newcomers

Alongside the product refreshes, ASUS also debuted new models.

ROG Zephyrus Line

First up is the ROG Zephyrus G GA502. Equipped with Ryzen 7 and GTX Turing 1660ti, its slim and lightweight design makes it the ideal laptop for students, designers, and freelancers. With up to seven hours of battery life, its portable design makes it easy to work and play for those who are always on-the-go.

Another one in the Zephyrus line is the ROG Zephyrus S GX502, which features the same design as the GU502. It is equipped with an Intel 9th-generation processor, RTX 2070 graphics, and with up to 240Hz/3ms IPS-level display. For optimal gaming, it comes with a GPU switch which lets you toggle between G-sync and Optimus modes. It is also designed with an active aerodynamic system, which helps maximize airflow and improve cooling.

Last in the Zephyrus line, the ROG Zephyrus M GU50 comes with a new reinforced magnesium alloy chassis. It is powered by a 9th-generation Intel Core i7 processor with NVIDIA GTX 1660ti graphics. The GU50 is equipped with USB Type-C charging, dual M.2 NVMe SSDs with Raid 0 to maximize speed and storage, and premium ESS Sabre DAC.

ROG Strix Line

Under the Strix line are the ROG Strix G G531/G731. Similar to the Zephyrus models, these laptops feature slim bezels and come with a wraparound light bar and brush finish. Powered by 9th-generation Intel processors with GTX Turing graphics, it comes with either 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch displays to suit your preference.

And the last but definitely not the least

This one got everyone in the room excited, and for good reason, too. The ROG Mothership GZ700 (a.k.a. “The Beast”) is arriving very soon. Powered by a factory overclocked Intel Core i9-9980HK, with a liquid metal compound, 4K 60Hz 100% Adobe RGB or FHD display, what’s not to look forward to?
