Apple quietly launched two new iPads: the 10.5-inch iPad Air and 7.9-inch iPad mini. The Air has a Retina display with a 2,224 x 1,668 resolution, while the mini has a display resolution of 2,048 x 1536. Both now support the first-gen Apple Pencil. As for Apple’s smart keyboard, only the iPad Air supports this.
Both offer 64GB/256G storage options; color choices of silver, space gray, or gold; and the A12 Bionic chipset, which debuted on the iPhone XS line. Both tablets also have the same camera setup, too with an 8-megapixel rear shooter with an f/2.4 aperture and 7-megapixel front shooter.
Battery life for the Air and mini are rated at up to 10 hours of “surfing the web on Wi‑Fi, watching video, or listening to music.” Both come with Touch ID fingerprint sensors and no Face ID support, a headphone jack, and Lightning cable connector for charging and data transfer.
There is no word yet on local availability yet but the new iPad mini starts at US$399 (around P21,000) for the Wi-Fi model and $529 (around P28,000) for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model and the 10.5-inch iPad Air starts at $499 (around P26,000) for the Wi-Fi model and $629 (around P33,000).
