Easier, more convenient, and more secure cashless transactions are coming in full throttle to Filipino commuters as GCash, the country’s leading finance super app, has been tapped by Angkas, the country’s pioneer motorcycle ride-hailing app, as a direct payment option.
By allowing users to directly link their GCash wallet as the preferred mode of payment in the Angkas app, users no longer need to top up their Angkas accounts from a digital banking or e-wallet account, which often requires additional costs.
Paying cashless on Angkas via GCash is quick, easy, and convenient. Commuters simply need to tap “Cash” on the Angkas platform to change the mode of payment, then select “Link your GCash” to pay directly using the GCash wallet.
Next, enter your mobile number, one-time PIN (OTP), and MPIN. Finally, tap “Link.” Once done, a pop-up will appear on your screen to indicate the successful linking of your GCash wallet to the Angkas app and you can enjoy a more convenient, secure, and cost-efficient way to pay for your rides or deliveries.
GCash and Angkas also remind their users to never share their OTP and MPIN with anyone to ensure the security of their cashless transactions.
“As long-standing partners, especially at the height of the pandemic, GCash and Angkas have been strengthening their strategic collaboration as they share the same vision of helping Filipinos have better and easier experiences for their daily transactions,” said Ren-Ren Reyes, president and CEO of GCash mobile wallet operator G-Xchange, Inc.
Angkas CEO George Royeca expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with other homegrown Filipino businesses, calling the partnership with GCash a “dream collaboration.”
He explained, “We’re always looking for ways to enhance our customer service, and partnering with GCash for secure cashless payments is a great solution. Nearly everyone uses GCash these days, it’s incredibly convenient for our riders and passengers. It removes the hassle of handling cash or looking for change.”
Previously, GCash and Angkas also launched GCash In Express on the ride-hailing app. This feature allows users who rely on offline cash-in channels an avenue to top up their GCash wallets without having to leave their homes by simply adding on the request for GCash Cash In when they need to book an Angkas Ride, Angkas Pabili or Padala service.
