The Phoenix Formula V1 Virtual Cup started its 1st season in 2020. In order to keep the racing community alive during the pandemic, Tuason Racing together with Phoenix Fuels brings another racing action in the new normal platform, competing in an adrenaline-filled, challenging race experience at the comforts of their home. Local racers in the country, both sim and real on track racers have joined since the start of its season, and now more racers, even beginners in racing have joined to further enhance their skills.
Inigo Anton and Joshua David Marquez secured the fastest times and were applauded as champions in Round 1 of Phoenix PULSE Formula V1 Virtual Cup’s 2nd season, which was broadcasted at the Tuason Racing Facebook Page last August 14 and August 21.
Set in Subic International Raceway, A total of 120 racers both for AM Class and PRO Class battled it out on the virtual racetracks, but Marquez and Maulana lead the pack and dominated the PC-based Assetto Corsa virtual race.
This year’s GR GT Cup Junior Class Overall 2nd placer and Legion Of Racers’ Joshua David Marquez made it to the top on the AM Class with the total race time of 10:05.479.
Last year’s Formula V1 Virtual Cup Champion and Obengers Racing Team’s Inigo Anton proves that he is still a force to be reckoned with a total race time of 10:00.462, among 21 racers who competed in the PRO Class for this race.
Stregawo Veloce Ragazzo Squadra and Formula V1 Virtual Cup’s AM Class podium finishers Francis Metrillo placed 2nd in the AM Class with the total time of 10:09.118 after a tough racing battle with Marquez, while new racer Joshua Nabus of Termi Tuning Factory placed 3rd with 10:10.218 that made him show his great potential as an upcoming virtual racer to look out for as he competed in the race with only his gaming mouse and keyboard unlike any other racers with their own set-up of rig.
Meanwhile in the PRO Class Category, Asian Endurance Series’ Podium finisher and Stregawo Veloce Ragazzo Squadra’s Russel Reyes followed Anton to secure a second place finish with a total time of 10:12.014, while Partspro Veloce Ragazzo Squadra’s Aldo Balagulan got 3rd place with a time of 10:18.038.
New Breed of Racers also showed their fullest potential during the virtual race, like Phoenix Pulse Racing Team and last year’s AM Class Champion Andre Varquez who is now competing on the PRO Class, and Phoenix PULSE Young Drivers’ Program Celebrity Champion Vitto Marquez.
Andre who was running 2nd during the Race 2 session were able to overtake and claim the Champion spot as Paola Bringas who was leading the race eventually crashed while exiting one of the dangerous corner of the track.
