Set to redefine modern luxury through intuitive digital user experience and a dynamic design, Auto Nation Group recently unveiled the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class.
The A-Class is known for automotive innovation and for being the first hatchback luxury car when it was launched in 1997. More than 20 years later, Mercedes-Benz is introducing the fourth generation of the A-Class, made smarter and sportier for the new generation. Here are the defining features of the new A-Class:
“Hey Mercedes”: Elevated user experience
Ushering in a new era in automotive connectivity, the new A-Class is the first Mercedes-Benz model to feature MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), a completely new infotainment system.
A unique feature of this system is its ability to learn thanks to artificial intelligence. MBUX can be individualized and adapts to suit the user, thus creating an emotional connection between the vehicle, driver, and passengers.
Its highlight is the comprehensive touch operation concept—the combination of a 10.25-inch touchscreen, touchpad on the center console and Touch-Control buttons in the steering wheel. In addition to the intuitive operating experience, less driver distraction is another advantage.
At the heart of the MBUX system is a highly intelligent virtual assistant, which is activated by pressing a button in the steering wheel or by simply saying, “Hey Mercedes.” It caters to voice commands to attend to infotainment functions such as destination input, music selection, climate control, and ambient lighting.
The MBUX comes with a natural speech recognition program that helps it to recognize and understand nearly all sentences from the fields of multimedia and vehicle operation. It allows individualization that makes the A-Class an extension of oneself.
Modern luxury in the compact class
The design of the new A-Class is a combination of uncompromisingly dynamic design and an intuitive operating concept. The purist, surface-accentuating design of the new A-Class is the next step in the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of Sensual Purity. The exterior of the new A-Class stands for sportiness, dynamism, and emotion. The progressive front design has a low bonnet, flat LED headlamps with chrome elements, and torch-like daytime driving lamps.
Meanwhile, the interior is redefined with its modern, avant-garde look, revolutionizing the compact class from the inside with a new feeling of spaciousness. The new A-Class also comes with a high-resolution Widescreen Cockpit with touchscreen control—a new standard in the segment. It is featured with an all-digital instrument panel display that can be switched to different styles from “Classic,” “Understated,” or “Sport” mode complementing the turbine-look air-vents and leather multi-function sports steering wheel. The widescreen cockpit is completely free-standing, and for the first time, there are absolutely no cockpit cowls above the instruments. The sporty air vents in a turbine-look are another highlight.
The A200 Edition 1 sports an ambient lighting functionality that creates a mood inside the car while driving. The driver can also individually configure different moods with the extended ambient lighting from 64 colors available, which can be activated via voice command.
Optimum safety and performance
Like all Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the new A-Class is loaded with advanced safety features such as Active Brake Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic and rearview camera, and seven airbags. It also has an anti-theft alarm package and Tirefit with tire inflator in case of road emergencies.
Under the hood, the new A-Class is powered by a new engine that is more powerful yet fuel efficient. The A200 Edition 1 and A200 Progressive are both powered by a 1.3L 7-speed DCT engine with a power of 163hp and 250Nm of torque while the A180 Progressive sports a 1.3L 7-speed DCT engine with a power of 136hp and 200Nm of torque.
The new A-Class is offered at the following price points:
• A200 Edition 1 – P3,290,000
• A200 Progressive – P2,990,000
• A180 Progressive – P2,490,000
