GoPro unveils the new HERO4 line

Unabashed to call themselves the world’s most high-tech selfie camera, GoPro Philippines has launched their new GoPro HERO4 line-up, packed with an immense number of improvements for that perfect selfie. All kidding aside, GoPro has been the innovator of action cameras since its inception, yet they’re continuously evolving. On November 11 at the Republ1c Wakepark in Nuvali, Laguna, GoPro unleashed this much improved line of devices to the astonished public, in an afternoon that included a lecture on how to use these new GoPros and free wakeboarding for the attendees of the event.

The HERO4 Black Edition

2x the performance, yet again. The HERO4 Black Edition is the most advanced GoPro ever. The device is able to take videos from a stunning 1080p120 framerate to an incredible 4K30 resolution. It will be able to take high-quality 12MP photos at a rate of 30 fps. Image and video quality is optimized for low-light conditions with the Auto Low Light feature. Audio is captured in high-fidelity. Perspectives are extended with an ultra wide-angle glass lens, with three FOV settings: Ultra Wide, Medium, and Narrow. These are further optimized with the SuperView feature which combines the tall coverage of 4:3 resolutions and the wide-screen capabilities of 16:9, offering the most immersive view of the world around you. The HERO4 Black is supplemented by a flurry more of additional options like the HiLight Tag, which bookmarks the highlights in a video; the QuikCapture, which allows you to power on and capture video in a single button; and the Protune, which allows you to post-produce images and video to perfection. The powerful Black Edition is suited for the hardcore professional who looks for the best quality possible in an action camera.

The HERO4 Silver Edition

Pro-quality capture. Touch-display convenience. The Silver Edition has the same earth-shattering punch unleashed by the Black Edition, with one slight change: the addition of a built-in touch display. Controlling the camera and playing back footage is easy with a single tap and swipe. Of course, with such a great addition, there comes a slight downside. The Silver will still be able to 4K video but only at 15 fps framerate. The action-packed 120 fps is reserved for 720p, as opposed to the Black Edition’s 1080p120 capabilities. However, this downside will barely be noticed except by the most astute of observers. As mentioned above, the Silver Edition is made for the user who wants to enjoy the raw power delivered by the Black Edition in a more user-friendly package.

The HERO

The perfect entry-level GoPro. Not everyone’s looking for a high-tech camera right off the bat. Some want a simple version just to get their feet wet in the GoPro world. The camera records at a gorgeous 1080p30 and 720p60. It can capture 5MP single, Time Lapse, and Burst photos up to 5 fps. Like its big brothers, the HERO has an Ultra Wide-Angle Lens, SuperView, QuikCapture, Auto Low Light. However, it will not have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, and its battery may not be switched. Make sure you charge this baby before using it.

All devices are compatible with GoPro accessories. They will be compatible with the GoPro app. The Black Edition will have a price tag of P25,990. The Silver Edition will have a price of P 20,990. The HERO will have a price of P7,990.
