With the holiday season fast approaching, we know it’s that time of the year when we scout for presents to buy ourselves and our loved ones. As much as we want to splurge, we also have to take into consideration our budget for spending, especially with the impact of the pandemic on our lives and finances. realme newest’s smartphone—the narzo 50i—offers long and enjoyable gaming hours with its sizable battery capacity and screen at a price that won’t hurt. So for someone on a tight budget, will this smartphone give you your money’s worth? Find out in this review.

Design and Build

That narzo 50i is equipped with a large 6.5” display and 20:9 aspect ratio. This is something gamers will most likely rave about since the aspect ratio offers a larger field of view. The same is true when streaming movies on Netflix. Further, its taller and narrower frame coupled with its 8.9mm thickness makes it comfortable to grip with one hand.

Weighing 195g, it feels quite hefty; but nonetheless I’m still in favor of the handiness of its overall build.

The current one in review comes in Carbon Black colorway with a unique and stylish diagonal stripe design, but you may opt to get their soothing shade in Mint Green. As for the rear’s finish, I’m also in favor of it since it’s less prone to fingerprint marks.

At the bottom of the phone, you’ll find the 3.5mm jack, charging port, and speakers. You can find the volume rocker and power button on the right. On the left is the tray for the dual nano-SIM and microSD cards.

Included with the phone is the USB cable, USB power adapter, SIM eject tool, screen protector film, Quick Guide, and Important Information Guide.

Camera

For a budget phone, it houses a dependable 8MP main camera and f/2.0 large aperture, so you can take relatively clearer and brighter images regardless of the lighting. Its 5MP front camera fares well and can take pretty decent shots. You can enjoy other features such as panoramic view, portrait mode, timelapse, HDR, and AI beauty. Vibrant colors are also made possible by its Chroma Boost feature

Performance

The narzo 50i is powered by an octa-core processor allowing you to delight in a smooth experience while playing entry-level handheld games. It runs on 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. As mentioned earlier, it can hold a microSD card (up to 256GB expandable External Memory) so you don’t have to worry about storing memories on your phone for safekeeping (and if you’re a memory hoarder like I am).

Its hefty weight is justified with its massive 5000mAh battery capacity. You’d feel confident to carry out all your activities without having to worry about draining your battery. That said, you can also take advantage of its OTG reverse charging to power up your other gadgets.

Finally, securing your phone can be done by entering your pin or using the face unlock feature.

Verdict

The transition to everything digital means long hours spent using our gadgets—be it for online learning, working or gaming. With the price of PHP6290, it doesn’t only give you long hours of play with its large battery capacity, but also an immersive one thanks to its sizable screen. Those who are budget-conscious will get all the essential features of a smartphone and more with narzo 50i.
