Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., Honda’s automobile business unit in the Philippines, bagged Gold and Silver awards at the 4th Driven to Serve awards of the Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists (SPMJ) last November 12, 2020, for its corporate social responsibility initiatives in the environmental and road safety categories.
The Driven to Serve awards of the The Society of Philippine Motoring Journalists (SPMJ) is an award giving body which recognizes outstanding CSR efforts of vehicle manufacturers in the Philippines.
Honda’s tree planting activity was once again recognized by the award giving body for its contributions in the restoration of the Philippines’ rainforests. Taking home a Gold award in the environment category, Honda’s tree planting activity not only helps restore communities and ecosystems, but also contributes solutions to environmental problems such as climate change and air pollution.
Through the Honda Foundation Inc.—composed of the Honda Group of Companies Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), and Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation (HPMC), in partnership with Haribon’s Forest For Life Movement—Honda’s tree planting aims to restore damaged rainforests through planting various native tree species such as Narra, Apitong, and Lauan. Through its 10 year partnership, around 50,000 trees have already been planted across 36 hectares of damaged forests in the provinces of Laguna, Quezon and Rizal.
Meanwhile, Honda’s Teen Smart, a program designed for teenagers which combines road safety tips and coaching on values such as responsibility, respect, and patience in preparation for their part as road users and future drivers or vehicle owners, baggeda Silver award in the road safety category.
The Teen Smart program has, so far, conducted its road safety seminars in five (5) selected school beneficiaries in the City of Sta Rosa. This program covers topics such as traffic rules and regulations, physical and mental condition of road users, vehicle safety and anticipation of traffic and environmental conditions.
