Google wants to save you from fake download buttons online

You’ve probably fallen prey to these fake ads below. Unwittingly logging into what you thought was your bank’s login page because they look almost alike. Accidentally downloaded a file because certain download services are littered with what Google calls “social engineering attacks.”

Now, Google Chrome, through its Safe Browsing feature, wants to help you stop installing unwanted apps or unknowingly releasing your personal information through social engineering and its deceptive download buttons or fake image ads claining your system is out of date.

The browser will now warn you if it sees sites littered with social engineering content. You’ve seen these warning pages before but now they extend to sites that show social engineering content.
