If you were a kid of the ’90s or have one who lived through that era, you or your kid most likely had one or more of the popular Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine. Some of us got to relive this part of our childhood when the book was turned into a movie, starring Jack Black. Now, you get to frighten your children more or indulge in the nostalgia further with the new Goosebumps VR app.
Available on both Android and iOS, the app has you joining Black as R.L. Stine in the passenger seat of a car and you watch has he tries to get away from a giant praying mantis. Admittedly, it doesn’t seem like such a scary concept but you put this over a kid’s face and just watch them be invested with it.
The app is used to promote the release of the Blu-ray and DVD editions of the film. It’ll work on compatbile smartphones and virtual reality viewing devices like the Google Cardboard. Now, if you don’t have a VR headset on hand, the app has a 360-degree video mode that will let you experience the chase even if on your phone’s display.
