realme maintains momentum, still the world’s fastest-growing brand

Global industry analysis firm Counterpoint once again reports that realme is the the fastest growing smartphone brand in the world — a title the young brand has held for four consecutive quarters. realme is the only major brand to have registered a double-digit positive figure with 11% growth in the second quarter of 2020. In the preceding quarter, Counterpoint reported that realme is one of the only two brands to have registered positive growth with 157% year-on-year (YoY).

realme also claims a fair share of the market in Southeast Asia as it records a 102% YoY growth in its Q2 2020 sell-in shipments, as reported by research firm Canalys.

Growing the global realme squad

realme has added 15 million users worldwide in the first half of the year. It is now the TOP 4 smartphone brand in Thailand, India, Cambodia and Egypt, and TOP 5 in the Philippines, Myanmar, Ukraine, Indonesia and Vietnam, according to Counterpoint Research and IDC.

In just two years, realme has already grown its userbase to 40 million, a considerable feat for a young brand in a highly competitive market. realme’s strategic expansion to nearly 60 different countries and regions allowed it to attain its mission of reaching out to more youth, empowering them to dare to leap beyond their bounderies with disruptive yet attainable realme devices.

Strengthening the realme ecosystem and 5G portfolio

In 2020, realme has implemented a ‘Smartphone + AIoT’ dual-driven strategy. Despite of the challenging economic environment, realme has successfully met targets laid out in this initiative. realme is on track to launch over 50 AIoT products this year and over 100 by next year.

realme has been focused on promoting 5G products in its retail markets. It released the first 5G-capable flagship phone in India, and Thailand’s very first 5G phone. The company has also launched Cambodia’s first 5G phone under 1,000 USD. Locally, realme Philippines is partnering with telco companies for the accreditation of its 5G products and eventual market availability.

realme defines its AIoT strategy as a “1+4+N” initiative, which refers to one core smartphone product complemented by four major groups of lifestyle devices such as speakers, earphones, watches and supported by “N” types of smart accessories.

realme plans to continue its international expansion plans where growth is most expected.  For example, its AIoT products have been performing well in the Indian market, where its smart personal audio devices have reached thirdplace in terms of market share within 3 months.

realme’s products have also made waves in the design world. In 2020, realme’s Design Studio have collaborated with world-renowned designers Naoto Fukasawa and Jose Levy of Hermes fame to produce trendsetting realme products. In addition, realme has won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its X2 Pro Master, issuing a strong challenge to other brands. realme has pioneered innovations not only in design but also in technology, most notably when it launched the world’s first 125W fast charging technology in July.
