Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, joined the recently concluded PhilBus and Truck 2019, the biggest international B2B expo for buses, trucks and commercial vehicles in the Philippines. The expo featured the latest variety of buses, trucks, heavy vehicles, and maintenance equipment. A total of 150 exhibitors participated in the three-day event.

Hino showcased its HMP Class 2 Cabless, HMP Class 3 Cabless and Cerito units at the expo. The Centro Class 2 with Cab and Centro Class 2 Cabless units were also available for free rides from Shell EDSA Heritage or Shell EDSA Malibay to SMX, and back.

This year’s PhilBus and Truck exhibition was the largest gathering of PUV manufacturers across the country, underscoring industry support of the ongoing government initiative to modernize the Philippine transport system.

HMP Chairman Vicente Mills discussed the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) and shared how the company supported the PUVMP initiative through its modern jeepney units at the 4th Transport Cooperative National Congress on the third day of the trade event.

The congress, which was made possible through a partnership with Hino, was one of the forums organized for the three-day expo. “We’re honored to have been invited to speak at the Transpo Congress. As a pioneer participant in the PUVMP, we would be glad to discuss how our Hino units are helping the program transform the country’s transport system,” shared Mills.

HMP has been an active supporter of and participant in the PUVMP, designed and developed the first batch of modern jeepney units. To date, Hino has turned over more than 100 modern jeepney units to several transport cooperatives in Taguig, Pateros, Makati, Quezon City and Iloilo.

Hino also recently joined the Modern PUV Caravan, a joint undertaking that aims to bring modern PUV vehicles to different cities in the Philippines.

Hino Motors Philippines Corporation (HMP) is primarily engaged in the exclusive assembly and distribution of Hino trucks and buses, genuine Hino spare parts, and the manufacture and distribution of other automotive-related products and services in the Philippines.

Originally incorporated in March 1975 under the name Pilipinas Hino Inc. (PHI) before it changed its name to HMP in 2015, the company is a joint venture among Filipino investors, Hino Motors, Ltd., and the Marubeni Corporation of Japan.
